A small 6 kg dog, along with 16 other dogs, was removed from a home by the PVD when the owner was hospitalized. It is unclear whether the dogs were intentionally bred or if this was another place where dogs were allowed to breed uncontrollably. The dogs were not malnourished or sick, but they were not socialized. Walking on a leash, being near strangers, and being alone without the rest of the pack were terrifying for them. Fortunately, these dogs, although frightened by everything, did not bite. We have already taught them to walk on a leash. When Claudia resists, her small size allows us to pick her up under our arm and carry her forward until the "great fear" passes and she can continue on her way. Even being alone with a person at first is frightening, but it is easily overcome. The owner of the blue-gray coat, Claudia, was microchipped and registered (as were some of the other dogs removed). However, several errors were found in the registry, including errors in gender and descriptions, so it is possible that the age indicated in the documents is also incorrect. Claudia's documents indicate that she is 12 years old, but our veterinarians estimate that she is around 8 years old (excellent dental health, good overall health, and no signs of age in her eyes - no dullness). Therefore, we are looking for a home for Claudia where the number in her passport is not the deciding factor. An ideal environment would be a quiet home with active inhabitants who are willing to go for walks and patiently show her that life alongside her human can be safe and peaceful. Patience will be needed in the first few days in the new home, but once Claudia settles in, she will be a reliable and loving companion.

Neliela auguma (6 kg) sunīti kopā ar vēl 16 bēdubrāļiem PVD izņēma no kādas mājas, saimniecei nonākot slimnīcā. Vai rējēji tika apzināti vairoti, vai arī šī bija kārtējā vieta, kur cilvēks ļāva suņiem nekontrolēti pavairoties – informācijas nav. Četrkāji nebija nobadināti vai slimi, bet nesocializēti gan. Iešana pie pavadas, sveši cilvēki līdzās un palikšana vienam bez pārējā bara – tās viņiem bija tīrās šausmas. Par laimi, šie suņi, lai arī no visa bijās, vismaz nekoda. Nu jau mazliet esam iemācījuši iet pavadā. Kad Klaudija sāk pretoties, izmērs ļauj paņemt viņu padusē un panest uz priekšu, līdz “lielā baile” pārgājusi un var atkal turpināt ceļu pate. Arī palikšana vienai aci pret aci ar cilvēku sākumā ir biedējoša, taču itin viegli pārvarāma. Zilganpelēkā kažoka īpašniece Klaudija bija mikročipēta un reģistrēta (tāpat kā vēl daži no izņemtajiem suņiem). Tomēr, konstatējot, ka reģistrā ir vairākas kļūdas gan dzimumos, gan aprakstos, lēšam, ka nepareizi varētu būt norādīts arī vecums. Dokumentos Klaudijai minēti 12 gadi, taču mūsu veterinārārsti sunim dod krietni mazāk – ap 8 gadiem (teicams zobu stāvoklis, labs vispārējais veselības stāvoklis un acīs nav vecuma pirmās pazīmes — blāvuma). Līdz ar to Klaudijai meklējam saimnieku, kuram skaitlis pasē nav izšķirošais. Ideāla būtu klusināta dzīvesvide, bet ar gana aktīviem mājiniekiem, kuri labprāt dosies pastaigās un pacietīgi ierādīs, ka dzīve līdzās savam cilvēkam var būt droša un mierīga. Pirmajās dienās jaunajās mājās būs vajadzīga pacietība, bet, kad Klaudija iejutīsies, viņa būs uzticama un mīļa līdzgaitniece.
