Looby Lou är en liten till medelstor whippet-liknande korsning i åldern tre till fyra år. Bor med en katt. Behöver boende hund(ar). Respektfulla barn över 12 år. Flera år sedan kom en mor och två valpar till porten av Crivatu. Bara några av många som lämnats där under åren. De lockades genom portarna och in i skyddet hos skyddsstationen med spår av mat. De var rädda små hundar som tog lång tid att lita på människor. Mamsell Maria och syster Bella var mer självsäkra och adopterades i Storbritannien för något tid sedan. Looby var avskärmad och inte så vänlig förrän nyligen. Nu är det hennes tur att till slut komma till Storbritannien och hitta ett nytt hem. Looby älskar att vara i ett hemmiljö. Hon är fortfarande van vid vissa saker som andra hundar tar för givet men hennes svans vinklar ofta med glädje! Hon är en god och kärlekssjäl när hon får tid att få kännedom om dig och kommer att växa i veckorna framöver. Hon behöver minst en annan hund i sitt eviga hem, hon är mycket vänlig mot den trygga skyddsstationens katt och vinklar sin svans och knuffar lätt med nos mot honom. Hon är en absolut njutning och behöver bara lite tid att lita på nya människor. Hon behöver en lugn hemmiljö utan barn under tolv år. Detta håller din hund säker: din nya hund är nervös och kommer inte att lita på dig, och du vet inte vilka situationer som kan oroa din hund. Om din hund panikar, så är en slipförtöjning det enda sättet att förhindra att din hund flyr (många hundar kan fly från en halsbåge och/eller bält). Det kommer att ta MINST 3-6 månader för din hund att vänja sig in och för dig att känna din hund fullt ut (längre för nervösa hundar). Slipförtöjningen MÅSTE alltid användas under denna inväntningsperiod. Även efter att din hund har anpassat sig är det säkrast att använda slipförtöjningen i situationer där din hund kanske blir rädd (t.ex. besök av nya platser, runt okända personer, hos veterinären), och i situationer där oventade utlösare kan ske (t.ex. runt brännar natt). Nervösa hundar kan alltid behöva bära en slipförtöjning som säkerhetsåtgärd. Slipförtöjningen är ett säkerhetsinstrument och MÅSTE ALDRIG användas som träningsverktyg. Att använda förtöjningen för att trycka mot hunden's hals är skadligt. Om din hund drar i förtöjningen, så kan vi råda dig till träningsmetoder som undviker skada. När din hund har anpassat sig kan du överväga att använda ett bält (tillsammans med slipförtöjningen) om din hund är bekväm med att hanteras när det är påplacerat. De flesta bält är inte flyktfria, men bält med en strimmor bakom ribbkanten (t.ex. Ruffwear Webmaster eller Perfect Fit Bält) är säkrare. Looby Lou is a small to medium whippet -ish crossbreed aged around three to four years old. Living with a cat. Needs resident dog(s). Respectful children 12 plus. A few years ago a mum and two pups turned up at the gate of Crivatu. Just some of many dumped there over the years. They were tempted through the gates and into the safety of the shelter with trails of food. They were wary little dogs that took a while to trust humans. The mother, Maria, and sister Bella, were more confident and adopted in the UK some time ago. Looby was aloof and not so friendly until very recently. Now is her turn to at last come to the UK and find a new home. Looby is loving being in a home environment. She’s still becoming accustomed to some things that other dogs take for granted but her tail is wagging with delight most of the time! She is a sweet and affectionate girl once given time to get to know you and will continue to flourish in the weeks ahead. She will need at least one other dog in her forever home, she is very sweet with the safe rescue cat and will wag her tail and gently nose bump him. She’s an absolute delight and just needs to be given a little time to trust new people. She will need a calm home environment with no children under the age of twelve. This will keep your dog safe: your new dog will be nervous and will not trust you, and you will not know which situations might upset your dog. If your dog panics, then a slip lead is the only way to prevent your dog from escaping (many dogs can escape from a collar and/or harness). It will take AT LEAST 3-6 months for your dog to settle-in and for you to know your dog fully (longer for nervous dogs). The slip lead must ALWAYS be used during this settling-in period. Even after your dog is settled, it is safest to use the slip lead in situations where your dog may become scared (e.g. visiting new places, around unfamiliar people, at the vet), and it situations where unexpected triggers might happen (e.g. around bonfire night). Nervous dogs may always need to wear a slip-lead as a back-up safety measure. The slip lead is a safety device and must NEVER be used as a training tool. Using the lead to apply pressure to the dog’s neck is damaging. If your dog pulls on the lead, then we can advise you on training methods that avoid harm. Once your dog is settled, you may want to consider using a harness (together with the slip lead) if your dog is comfortable with being handled when it is fitted. Most harnesses are not escape-proof, but harnesses with a strap behind the ribcage (e.g. Ruffwear Webmaster or Perfect Fit Harnesses) are safer. Retractable / extendable leads must never be used on our dogs. Adopted dogs must be collected from the rescue and transported straight home in a secure metal crate.
