Disposition: Obawa is a cat whose name very well captures her first impression – she is reserved, cautious, and not a fan of direct human contact. She most often chooses a safe spot in her bed and spends her time observing the world from a distance. She does well in the company of other cats, does not engage in conflicts, and is able to coexist with other cats. She may even draw comfort from their presence. For people, she initially seems inaccessible and frightened, but this is only an act. Once Obawa gets to know someone and feels safe, she is capable of trust – allowing herself to be pet and clearly deriving pleasure from it, closing her eyes in contentment. The key to her heart, however, is peace, predictability, and gentleness in interaction. We are looking for a calm home without small, energetic children where she can develop at her own pace. A gentle, balanced cat that could become a support for her would also be most welcome. Obawa is unlikely to be a lap cat right away – but with the right conditions and a patient caregiver, she will repay you with her quiet presence and subtle, feline intimacy.
