Berkshire Adoption fee is £250 • 6 years old • Male, miniature (5kg) • Shaded red, long-hair • Neutered Peanut is a handsome shaded-red long-hair mini dachshund who is looking for a loving, calm home with no children. He’s an anxious boy so a stable and calm home would be preferable. Peanut loves his people and is a loyal and affectionate little dog who loves nothing better than curling up on a knee and getting cuddles. He has is reactive to visitors and needs owners who are comfortable advocating for him so he is left alone and allowed to be introduced to visitors gradually, and once he has calmed down. We will provide behaviourist support if needed, but gorgeous little dogs can get sick and tired of unasked-for attention! Peanut is reactive to other dogs on lead and will bark/lunge at them, clicker training with treats is extremely helpful at curtailing this behaviour and calming him down, as a result of his reactivity he is only walked on-lead. His current owners report that he gets on very well with some female dogs, so potentially he could form a great partnership with a calm female companion. He can guard his food and, as result, he is left alone when he is fed or has a chew. He loves playing with his toys with his owners and will bring his favourite toy over to play with. However, if he is playing with a toy happily by himself he can display guarding behaviours if disturbed, so his owners leave him in peace when he wants to be by himself. His new family will need to be comfortable managing this behaviour. Peanut is generally in good health. He had an episode of IVDD in 2025 which was successfully treated with crate rest, physio, and is now managed by avoiding stairs and having shorter walks in the day. He no longer goes on very long walks (45 minute +). There have been two small episodes of pain since where rest and pain-relief were all he needed to quickly recover. Peanut sleeps in a bed downstairs in his current home. He can be left for periods of time, but will bark. Requirements in a home for Peanut Could potentially live with a female dog subject to a successful meet No cats No children If you are interested in giving Peanut a home, please get in touch with .
