Harper je malý až střední kříženec ve věku asi dvou let. Harper měla začátek života, který je bohužel příliš běžný v jejím rodném Rumunsku. Byla přijata do veřejného shelteru Botoșani velmi mladá jako jeden z tisíců štěňat, která se tam každoročně nechávají. A jednoduše se jí nedařilo být přijata. Tak hodně lidí ztrácí čas, který by měl být volným časem pro štěňata, vystaveny stresu a špinavosti shelteru. Kvůli tomu je Harper zdrženlivá vůči lidem, které nezná, a potřebuje vedení a trpělivost při budování důvěry. Ve svém domě je velmi laskavé, těsné a chytré štěňa, které si užívá hraní nebo spánku s druhem. Je to jasná, motivovaná dívka. Další hravý a sebejistý pes ve svém domě by pro Harpers byl velmi užitečný. Harper podstoupila test na kočky. Může žít s dětmi ve střední škole, které rozumí tomu, že potřebuje trochu času, aby se s nimi seznámila. Ujistí tak vašeho psa: váš nový pes bude nervózní a nebude vám důvěřovat a nevíte, jaké situace by mohly vašeho psa znervóznit. Pokud pes zpanikaří, uzávoru je jediný způsob, jak zabránit úniku psa (mnoho psů může uniknout z krku a/nebo sedačky). Bude trvat NENÍ MÉNĚ 3-6 měsíců, než se pes usadí a vy ho plně poznáte (delší pro nervózní psy). Uzávoru musíte vždy použít během tohoto období usazování. I poté, co se pes usadí, je nejbezpečnější používat uzávoru v situacích, kdy se může pes strachovat (např. návštěva nových míst, kolem cizích lidí, u veterináře), a v situacích, kdy mohou nastat neočekávané stimuly (např. kolem ohňostroje). Nervózní psi mohou vždy nosit uzávoru jako záložní bezpečnostní opatření. Uzávoru je bezpečnostní zařízení a NEMŮŽE být nikdy použita jako nástroj tréninku. Použití uzávory k aplikaci tlaku na krk psa je škodlivé. Pokud pes táhne uzávorou, můžeme vám doporučit metody tréninku, které nezpůsobí škodu. Jakmile se pes usadí, můžete zvážit použití sedačky (spolu s uzávorou), pokud pes toleruje manipulaci při nasazení. Většina sedaček není unikací odolná, ale sedačky s řetězem za řebříčkem (např. Ruffwear Webmaster nebo Perfect Fit Sedáky) jsou bezpečnější. Retrakční / roztažné řetězy nesmí být použity na naše psy. Adopce psa musí být vybrána ze záchranky a okamžitě převezena domů v kotli. Because of this Harper is shy of strangers and will be hand-shy initially. She is also a little nervous of unknown dogs and might bark or retreat. Harper will need patience and guidance around these situations to help her grow. With her foster family Harper is a very affectionate, snuggly, and cheeky pup who loves playing or snoozing with the other dogs. She is a bright and food motivated girl. Another confident, playful dog to show her the ropes would help Harper settle in. With a few weeks of patience Harper will go from shy to rushing to greet you when you come home, demanding belly rubs, and being her true goofy, sassy self. Harper is quiet in the home and settles down well. She enjoys going for walks and behaves well on the lead overall, but can be nervous of new people or dogs. Harper has passed her cat testing, having shown no particular interest in them. She can live with high school aged children that understand she needs a bit of time to get to know them. Adoption Policy When you adopt a Safe Rescue dog, you MUST use a slip lead. This will keep your dog safe: your new dog will be nervous and will not trust you, and you will not know which situations might upset your dog. If your dog panics, then a slip lead is the only way to prevent your dog from escaping (many dogs can escape from a collar and/or harness). It will take AT LEAST 3-6 months for your dog to settle-in and for you to know your dog fully (longer for nervous dogs). The slip lead must ALWAYS be used during this settling-in period. Even after your dog is settled, it is safest to use the slip lead in situations where your dog may become scared (e.g. visiting new places, around unfamiliar people, at the vet), and it situations where unexpected triggers might happen (e.g. around bonfire night). Nervous dogs may always need to wear a slip-lead as a back-up safety measure. The slip lead is a safety device and must NEVER be used as a training tool. Using the lead to apply pressure to the dog’s neck is damaging. If your dog pulls on the lead, then we can advise you on training methods that avoid harm. Once your dog is settled, you may want to consider using a harness (together with the slip lead) if your dog is comfortable with being handled when it is fitted. Most harnesses are not escape-proof, but harnesses with a strap behind the ribcage (e.g. Ruffwear Webmaster or Perfect Fit Harnesses) are safer.
