26-05-26 Maggie je milá cockapoo, která se k nám vrátila z domova po incidentu s menším psem v domácnosti. Přesně nevíme, co se stalo, ale během noci na zahradě se Maggie zalekla a dostala se do potyčky poté, co jí druhý pes zaštěkal. Maggie je velmi plachá a citlivá holka, která se ostražitě staví k cizím lidem, i když si přesto nechává pohmatat. Velmi se snaží být statečná a začíná ukazovat malé známky pokroku – dokonce už se přiblížila k tomu, že si bere pamlsky z našich rukou, i když zatím není docela dost sebevědomá. Maggie zatím není dostatečně sebevědomá na to, aby byla jediným psím společníkem, a proto si myslíme, že by se nejlépe cítila v domácnosti s jedním klidným a sebevědomým psím společníkem podobného nebo většího vzrůstu, který by jí pomohl cítit se v bezpečí a uklidnil ji při adaptaci. Jelikož Maggie dříve žila v domácnosti, bude zvyklá na vzhled a zvuky domácího prostředí. Nicméně možná bude potřebovat trochu podpory při tréninku na toaletu, dokud si zvykne na nový režim. Maggie už umí chodit na vodítku, takže by si užívala jeden či dva procházky po okolí spolu s domácím psem, jakmile se usadí. Maggie se obzvláště bojí mužů a ze začátku štěkala na mužského obyvatele svého předchozího domova. Postupem času, trpělivostí a jemným přístupem se postupně začala uvolňovat. Bohužel došlo i k incidentu, kdy se Maggie zamotala do své postroje a v panice kousla do ruky majitele, který se jí snažil osvobodit. Kvůli tomu bude Maggie potřebovat klidný domov pouze pro dospělé s trpělivými a empatickými adoptivními rodiči, kteří mají zkušenosti nebo porozumění problémům spojeným s přijetím ex-plemenných psů. Od té doby, co je Maggie s námi, ukázala, že když se cítí ve stresu nebo přetížená, může se pokusit najít cestu ven tím, že leze. Proto bude potřebovat velmi bezpečnou zahradu s hranicemi minimálně 180 cm, aby byla v bezpečí a zabránila případným pokusům o útěk. Jakmile Maggie někomu začne důvěřovat, je to velmi milá a spokojená holka. V správném klidném a chápajícím domově s trpělivými a psům rozumějícími majiteli, kteří jsou ochotni nechat ji přizpůsobit se vlastním tempem, jsme si jisti, že bude dál dělat úžasný pokrok a pomalu se vyklubat ze své uzavřenosti. Maggie is a very sweet girl who originally came to us from a breeder. She was adopted for around 16 months, but has sadly returned to us from a home following an incident with one of the smaller resident dogs in the home. During the evening, while out in the garden, Maggie was frightened by the other dog barking. Although we don't know exactly what happened, the interaction unfortunately ended in a fight and they struggled to make up or co-exist after this. Maggie will be looking for a calm and quiet home with adopters who have experience with ex-breeding dogs and where she can settle in at her own pace. Unfortunately on one occasion in her previous home, Maggie became tangled in her harness and in a panic, bit the hand of the male owner who was trying to help free her. This was purely through fear and was an isolated, one off incident, but due to this, Maggie will be looking for an adult only home. When Maggie first returned to our care, she was a very shy girl who was unsure about new people, but since then she has settled in wonderfully and is an absolute dream. She is a very gentle girl who is so loving and confident, especially with her main carer, who has built such an incredible bond with her in a short period of time. Maggie is now confident enough that we would consider homing her as an only dog in the right circumstances, with adopters who have experience with ex-breeding dogs and who have plenty of time to spend with her and to help her settle in. She could also live with another calm and confident resident dog, but they would need to be her size or larger. She has shared her kennel with quite a few different dogs since being back with us and she has been amazing with all of them and is happy to share food and toys. She even visits the big play yard with a larger group of dogs for a play date, which she really enjoys! She is a playful girl and likes to keep herself entertained by playing with a tennis ball by herself, which is very sweet to watch! She does also like to run around and play with some of her dog friends too. She is also very food motivated and loves her treats. As Maggie has previously lived in a home, she will be familiar with home life, but may need some reminders of house training. She can already walk on a lead and harness and will often check back to you for reassurance. She walks well without pulling and is lovely to take out on walks. Maggie can be worried by men and did initially bark at the male resident in her previous home, but with time, patience, and gentle handling, she slowly began to come around. We are ensuring she socialises with males here and she does have a male staff member as part of her care team and has bonded well with him, which is lovely. She is very people oriented and once she knows you and is comfortable with you, she will become your best friend. She absolutely adores her main carer and will follow her around like a shadow and loves a fuss and cuddle! Since Maggie has been with us, she has shown that when she feels stressed or overwhelmed, she may try to find a way to escape by climbing. Because of this, she will need a very secure garden with boundaries of at least 6ft to help keep her safe and prevent any potential escape attempts. Once Maggie knows and trusts someone, she is a very sweet and happy girl. In the right calm and understanding home, with patient and dog-savvy owners who are willing to let her settle at her own pace, we are confident she will continue to make wonderful progress and become the most lovely companion. This dog can be homed with a resident dog.
