Rey is a dog. He was born on January 14th and was part of a litter, as most mixed breed litters are the result of a complete lack of ethological culture (and not only), often motivated by immoral protagonism (with abundant use of social media ads full of people offering puppies that equally reckless people request!) and, not infrequently, the desire to make some money off animals: indeed, most of the time, the mother is not followed before, during, or after birth and, sometimes, she is overbred to the point of exhaustion; the weakest dogs or cats or those in excess of the desired number are killed and the litter is left to its own devices, without vaccinating the puppies, rarely deworming them, and never microchipping them. For Rey, we are looking for a "special" family, as "special" is this puppy rescued from Apaca Rey, for example, who, along with others from the litter, quickly fell ill with parvovirus: he was treated, but just a few days after recovery, he had an accident that caused a complicated fracture of the left hind tibia. The prognosis was serious, as it required orthopedic surgery that was not exactly easy and a monitored hospital stay for several months in order to hope for a recovery. But the owner had already spent money on the parvovirus treatment and did not intend to treat him, while the person to whom the puppy was destined thought it better to disappear in the face of the prospect of having to take care of him! The veterinarian does not want to return the puppy to the owner - because Rey's fate might be sealed - and so calls Apaca in search of a possible solution. And a solution is found, because on April 30th, the veterinarian performed the surgery free of charge, and a few days later, the puppy was admitted to the animal shelter's infirmary for a complicated recovery period. Indeed, a very tough period opens up: first for the puppy, who has to stay in a kennel for 60 days, but also for the association's volunteers, who, several times a day, in addition to cleaning and taking care of him, have to take him out into the sun, starting by carrying him in their arms and then making him walk short distances, avoiding any obstacle, jump, or movement that could strain the limb. A couple of weeks ago, Rey had the plate that supported the leg removed, confirming the excellent results of the surgical intervention and the treatment received. We are sure we saved Rey from possible euthanasia and are happy because he is now completely recovered and can be adopted: he will become a medium to large-sized, beautiful dog, who will not show any signs of the accident and will make the family that adopts him very happy. Please note that visits to the dog shelter-animal shelter (including those to meet Rey!) are only possible by appointment.

E' nato il 14 gennaio e faceva parte di una cucciolata che, come quasi tutte le cucciolate meticce sono frutto di mancanza totale di cultura etologica (e non solo), spesso motivate da un immorale protagonismo (con abbondante ricorso a inserzioni su social media pieni di gente che offre cuccioli che persone altrettanto sconsiderate richiedono!) e, non di rado, dalla voglia di guadagnare un po' di soldi sulla pelle degli animali: infatti, il più delle volte la madre non viene seguita nè prima, nè durante, nè dopo il parto e, a volte, la si sfianca a forza di gravidanze, i cani (o i gatti) più fragili o in eccesso rispetto al numero “desiderato” vengono uccisi e si lascia la cucciolata a se stessa, senza vaccinare i cuccioli, raramente sverminandoli e mai e poi mai microchippandoli. Per Rey vorremmo una famiglia “speciale”, come “speciale” è questo cucciolo salvato da Apaca Rey, ad esempio, insieme ad altri della cucciolata, si è ammalato quasi subito di parvovirosi: è stato curato, ma pochi giorni dopo la guarigione, ha avuto un incidente che gli ha procurato la rottura scomposta della tibia posteriore sinistra. La prognosi era seria, dato che serviva un intervento di chirurgia ortopedica non proprio facilissimo ed una degenza sorvegliata di qualche mese per sperare in una guarigione. Ma il proprietario aveva già speso per la cura della parvivirosi e non intendeva perciò curarlo, mentre l'uomo a cui quel cucciolo era destinato pensava bene di dileguarsi davanti alla prospettiva di doverlo curare! Il veterinario non vorrebbe restituire il cucciolo al proprietario – perchè la sorte di Rey potrebbe essere segnata – e così chiama Apaca alla ricerca di una possibile soluzione. E la soluzione si trova, perchè il 30 aprile scorso il veterinario opera gratuitamente il cucciolo, che pochi giorni dopo viene accolto nell'infermeria del rifugio per una convalescenza complicata. Si apre, infatti, un periodo durissimo: anzitutto per il cucciolo, che deve restare chiuso in un kennel di misura per 60 giorni, ma anche per i volontari dell'associazione, che più volte al giorno, oltre a pulirlo e accudirlo, devono anche farlo uscire al sole, tenendolo prima soltanto in braccio e poi facendolo camminare per brevi tratti evitandogli ogni ostacolo, salto o movimento che possa sovraccaricare l'arto. Un paio di settimane fa a Rey viene tolta la placca che assisteva l'arto, confermando i risultati eccellenti dell'intervento chirurgico e delle cure ricevute. Siamo sicuri di aver salvato Rey da una possibile soppressione e contenti perchè ora è guarito perfettamente ed è possibile proporlo all'adozione: diventerà un cane di taglia medio-grande, bellissimo, che non porterà i segni dell'incidente e che farà felice la famiglia che lo accoglierà. Ricordiamo che le visite al canile-rifugio (anche quelle per incontrare Rey!) sono possibili solo su appuntamento.
