15-05-26 Xena has come to us from a breeder and is now looking for a loving forever home where she can begin her new life. She is overwhelmed to find herself here and clearly hasn’t had much human interaction before, so she can be quite anxious about being handled at the moment. She is especially nervous when inside her kennel and will run away from you, however, once she is out of her kennel she begins to come out of her shell and starts to show her sweet nature. She is already trying so hard to be brave and while she isn’t ready to approach us just yet, she will wag her tail when she sees us. With time, patience and plenty of TLC, we think she will flourish in a home. Xena will be looking for a calm and quiet home where she can settle in at her own pace and slowly build her confidence. She would benefit from adopters who have experience with nervous dogs and will need another kind and confident resident dog in her new home to be her friend, take her under their wing and welcome her with open paws. We would consider a home with dog savvy older teenagers who can be patient and gentle with her. As Xena has never lived in a home before, her adopters will need to be patient and understanding while she learns all about home life and new skills such as house training. She is just starting to learn about walking on a lead and harness and will need continued support and practice as her confidence grows.
