Cris wurde in einer Stadt an den Ausläufern von Sevilla auf der Straße gefunden und suchte nach Essen. Glücklicherweise wurde sie gefangen genommen und kam zu einem unserer Partnerhundepensionen, wo sie bereits über ein Jahr ist. In dieser Zeit hat sie viel Fortschritte gemacht. In den frühen Tagen versuchte sie, die Tierpflege zu verlassen, weil sie Angst hatte, aber sie hat gelernt, Vertrauen zu haben und ist jetzt manchmal sehr zärtlich – sogar heranschreitend, als wir einen Besuch abstatteten und ihr Aufmerksamkeit schenkten, was wunderbar war, da wir das letzte Mal, fast ein Jahr zuvor, nicht einmal in ihre Nähe kommen konnten, also war es erstaunlich, ihren Fortschritt zu sehen. Sie mag aktiv zu sein und zu spielen, sie hat eine eigenständige Ader, in der sie glücklich in ihrer eigenen Gesellschaft ist und sich selbst unterhält, aber gleichzeitig gibt es Momente, in denen sie gerne in der Gesellschaft von Menschen ist. Sie ist auch gut mit anderen Hunden und wir denken, dass sie sehr davon profitieren würde, wenn es im Zuhause noch einen Hund gäbe. Cris ist besonders von lauten Geräuschen besorgt – Stürme, Feuerwerke, Schüsse usw., daher suchen wir nach einem Zuhause, in dem sie weniger davon erleben wird und sicher und geborgen bleiben kann, falls sie doch auftreten, denn genau dann ist sie am wahrscheinlichsten, zu fliehen. Für Cris ist ein Zaun von mindestens 1,8 m Höhe erforderlich. Als sie erstmals gefangen wurde, lebte sie für eine kurze Zeit mit Katzen zusammen, bevor sie in die Tierpflege kam, daher betrachten wir sie als katzenverträglich. Cris ist kastriert, geimpft und hat negative Ergebnisse für alle mediterranen Krankheiten. Sie hat einen Reiseausweis und ist jetzt zur Adoption verfügbar. Cris was found in a town on the outskirts of Seville, wandering the streets and looking for food. Thankfully she was caught and made her way to one of our partner kennels where she spent more than a year before coming to foster in the UK. She had made a lot of progress at the shelter, in the early days she would try and escape the shelter as she was scared of noises in particular, but she had learned to trust and was seeking out a fuss at times. With a move to the UK the process of trusting started again - she has already formed a lovely bond with the female foster, but is still very wary of the male foster. She is still noise sensitive and as such, is a flight risk so we are looking for a home in a rural area that is quieter. Because she can climb, she needs a secure garden that has boundaries that are a minimum of 6ft and aren’t able to be climbed (no wire or netting or anything with footholds). It is likely that even in ‘secure’ fields that are available for hire, she will need to be on a longline as we know she can climb those type of fences. In the home, she is generally very relaxed and has settled in brilliantly. She was completely clean in the home from day 1, is happy to snooze the day away on her favourite bed (she is a real creature of habit!), can be left for a few hours with the other dogs and is totally fine. She walks nicely on the lead and loves her countryside walks - her tail is up high and she gets a lot from a calm and peaceful walking environment. She also travels well in the car. She has shown a glimpse of her playful side on occasion with the other dogs, but we expect this will take some time to fully show itself. She is good with other dogs and is currently living with 4 other Podencos. In fact, she seems to thrive in a larger pack - as such we are looking for a home with at least 2 other sociable dogs. She seems to feel safety in numbers. She is a good eater and enjoys her meals - the foster hasn’t seen any resource guarding around food. In the early days, she was a little protective over ‘her’ bed on a couple of occasions with the other dogs, but it never escalated and seems to have settled. She is also a very skilled fly hunter! She has not voluntarily chosen to sit on the sofa yet but on occasion but goes seek out a head rub and a will sometimes lift her leg when on her bed asking for a tummy rub. She will be a slow burner before you see her full personality but she is a delight and very easy day to day as long as she is kept safe and secure. A tracker is a must for Cris, just incase. When she was first caught, she was living with cats for a short while before she came to the shelter so we are classing her as cat workable.
