At just 1-year-old, Snoop is a handsome black Lurcher with a huge personality, an even bigger heart, and plenty of brains to match. Snoop is an affectionate, people-loving boy who adores being close to his favourite humans. He's particularly enjoying sofa time in our Meet & Greet room, where he's learning that he doesn't always need to be on the go. Once settled, he's happy having cuddles, giving kisses, playing with toys or showing off his tricks. He's a very clever boy who knows sit, down, stay, place, touch and recall, and he walks beautifully on lead. He's also enjoyed social walks with other dogs and is happy watching livestock, traffic and other distractions before moving on. One of his favourite things to do on walks is pick his own blackberries, something he absolutely loves! Snoop does have plenty of energy (in short bursts), and when the zoomies arrive, they're very fast! He can become over-excited when wound up, so he'll need calm, confident handling and someone who can help him learn when it's time to switch off. We've found he responds best to clear, consistent boundaries, praise and toys rather than relying heavily on food rewards, which can make him overly excitable and mouthy. Snoop loves his toys perhaps a little too much and will try to gulp down soft toys like a seagull, so he'll need sturdy toys and supervision during play. Snoop also struggles with separation anxiety in the home, although we haven't seen this in kennels as he's settled very well into kennel life. His new family will need to build his confidence gradually and be prepared not to leave him alone for long periods initially. Snoop has been waiting far longer than we'd hoped, with very few enquiries. He's not looking for perfection; he's looking for someone willing to understand him and help him become the brilliant adult dog we know he can be. In return, he'll give you an incredibly clever, funny and affectionate companion with so much love and goofiness to give.
