Ο Bugsy φτάνει στο Ξενοδοχείο την Πρωταγώνια Χριστουγέννων πέρυσι και βρέθηκε σε καταπληκτική κατάσταση. Ο Bugsy είχε γνωστός από το Καρντιφ Ντόγκς Χομ εδώ και αρκετά χρόνια ως επαναλαμβανόμενος άστεγος. Κατά την περίπτωση αυτή, μετά από συζητήσεις με τον Αστυνομικό Ζώων, δεν επέστρεψε στον προηγούμενο ιδιοκτήτη του και εμείς εμφανιστήκαμε για να παρέχουμε την ιατρική φροντίδα που χρειαζόταν απεγνωστικά. Μετά από μια επίσκεψη στο Κέντρο Υγείας του Ξενοδοχείο Επιθεώρησης, διαπιστώσαμε ότι ο Bugsy χρειαζόταν άμεσο κούρεμα νυχιών, καθώς τα νύχια του είχαν αναπτυχθεί τόσο πολύ που είχαν δημιουργήσει σπειροειδή νύχια και ήταν πονοκεφαλικά στο πόδι του. Επίσης, πάσχε από νοσήματα οδοντικής υγιεινής και ήταν σοβαρά υπερβαρύς. Πολύ ανησυχητικά, ο Bugsy είχε ένα μεγάλο μαζί περίπου της μεγάλης σταφίδας στο πλευρό του. Μετά από συζητήσεις με τον δικό μας ιατρό, το Ξενοδοχείο Επιθεώρησης οργάνωσε και χρηματοδότησε τη χειρουργική επέμβαση για την αφαίρεση του μαζιού, μαζί με την καστρατοποίηση του Bugsy και την οδοντική επέμβαση, η οποία προγραμματίστηκε αμέσως. Η επέμβαση πραγματοποιήθηκε στο Κέντρο Υγείας του Ξενοδοχείου Επιθεώρησης και ο Bugsy ήταν ένας απόλυτος ήρωας κατά τη διάρκεια της. Ο Bugsy ξεχείλισε υπό τη φροντίδα του προσωπικού του Καρντιφ Ντόγκς Χομ, χαρά του ως το "κατά την αίτηση του γραφείου". Μόλις ο ιατρός ήταν ικανοποιημένος με την ανάρρωσή του, του αντιστοιχήσαμε στο νέο σπίτι του και τον υιοθέτησε. Τώρα ζει τη ζωή που του αξίζει και αισθάνεται πολύ ελαφρύτερος! Από την υιοθεσία του, ο Bugsy έχει προσαρμοστεί στη ζωή στην ύπαιθρο και η όμορφη νέα μητέρα του έδωσε καλή ενημέρωση για την πρόοδό του. «Όταν ο Bugsy έφτασε στο σπίτι για πάντα, έκανε το ουρά του γρηγορότερα από τα ροδάκια του αυτοκινήτου, έτρεξε ενθουσιασμένα γύρω από το σπίτι για να εξερευνήσει και να αναζητήσει τις νέες περιβάλλοντας, και προσέλαβε ένα μεγάλο φιλί και αγκαλιά στο καναπέ. Νομίζω ότι κατάλαβε, τελικά, ότι ήταν ασφαλής τελικά» «Ο Bugsy ξυπνά τη μητέρα του στις 7 το πρωί ακριβώς για το φαγητό χωρίς να επιτραπεί καμία ρούχινα. Ακολουθεί μια μικρή περίπατος γύρω από το χωριό - στη συνέχεια μια βασιλική μεταφορά ή φορτηγό καρότσι πίσω στο σπίτι! Θα τον βρείτε να παίρνει το απογευματινό του τσαγιού με τις γυναίκες που φαγητό - στο Κατάστημα Γλυκειών Fablas ή στο Ocho lounge (όπου παίρνει πολύ καλά δώρα). Στη συνέχεια μια χαλαρή υπνούλα και ένα απόγευμα περιπάτος στον κήπο - να βορκβορκ στα πουλιά και τα αλεπ

Bugsy arrived at the Hotel on Christmas Eve last year and was in a sorry state. Bugsy has unfortunately been known to the staff at Cardiff Dogs Home for a number of years as a recurring stray. On this occasion, following discussions with the Dog Warden, he did not return to his previous owner, and we stepped in to provide the veterinary care he desperately needed. Following a visit to The Rescue Hotel Health Centre, we established Bugsy required an emergency nail trim, as his nails had grown so long that they had formed corkscrews and curled painfully into his paw pad. He was also suffering from dental disease, and was grossly overweight. Most concerningly, Bugsy had a large grapefruit sized mass on his side. After discussions with our vet, The Rescue Hotel arranged and funded surgery to remove the mass, along with Bugsy’s castration and dental procedure, which were scheduled promptly. The operation took place at The Rescue Hotel Health Centre and Bugsy was an absolute star throughout. Bugsy recovered under the care of the Cardiff Dogs Home staff, enjoying his time as the spoilt “office dog”. Once the vet was happy with his recovery, he was matched to his new home, and adopted. He's now living the life he deserves and feeling much lighter! Since his adoption, Bugsy has been settling into life in the countryside and his lovely new mum has kindly given us an update on his progress. “When Bugsy arrived at his forever home, he wagged his tail faster than windscreen wipers, ran excitedly around the house to explore and sniff out the new surroundings, and came for a big kiss and cuddle on the sofa. I think he realised, at last, he was finally safe” “Bugsy gets his mum up at 7am sharp for breakfast with no lie ins permitted. Followed by a short dog walk around the village – then a royal carry, or pram ride home! You will find Bugsy having afternoon tea with the ladies that lunch – at Fablas ice cream parlour, or Ocho lounge (where he gets amazing treats). Closely followed by a nap and an evening potter in the garden – to bork bork at the birds, and foxes. Bugsy enjoys night time cuddles before he is off to sleep to dream about free ice cream and whipped cream” We also asked Bugsy’s mum about her thoughts on adopting a dog who had undergone major surgery. Here at the Hotel, sadly many dogs that need our help have ongoing or often lifelong medical needs which mean they can be overlooked by potential adopters. “After initially being a bit wary about adopting Bugsy (due to major surgery) after I’d obtained his medical history from the vets, got an insurance quote, and spoke to the staff, I felt much more at ease and happy to fully adopt him. After all of his suffering and neglect, he deserved the very best home” “This reassured me that even though his pre-existing conditions weren’t covered, any future illness would be…I have previously adopted 3 elderly rescue pugs before, so was well aware of the breed and possible future health concerns and was not fazed by this ( Can’t Change A Dog’s Past, But You Can Change Its Future)” Thanks to your donations, The Rescue Hotel were able to step in to help Bugsy and we are so pleased Bugsy has now found the forever home he deserves.
