Γαβριήλ έφτασε αρχικά σε μας από έναν κτηνοτρόφο και γι' αυτόν το κόσμος φαινόταν να είναι ένα πολύ φοβερό τοποθέτημα. Είχε φόβο από τους ανθρώπους, τα νέα περιβάλλοντα και τις άγνωστες εμπειρίες τον έκαναν να νιώθει υπερφορτωμένος, και ακόμα και κάτι τόσο απλό όπως να βάλεις ένα βραχιόλι του ήταν μεγάλη πρόκληση. Χρειαζόταν χρόνο, προσοχή και υποστήριξη για να αρχίσει να νιώθει ασφαλής. Ο Γαβριήλ έχει υποδεχτεί για μια σύντομη περίοδο, αλλά δυστυχώς δεν ήταν το κατάλληλο αποτέλεσμα γι' αυτόν και επέστρεψε μετά την εμφάνιση ανεπιθύμητων συμπεριφορών στο σπίτι και καταλήξει στις λάθος επιλογές όταν ένιωθε άβολος σε μια κατάσταση, που οδήγησε στο Γαβριήλ να δάγκει. Χρειάζεται ένα ήσυχο σπίτι με ενήλικες αποκλειστικά, χωρίς υποκατοικούντες ή επισκέπτες παιδιά, ώστε να μπορεί να πάρει τη δομή που χρειάζεται. Ο Γαβριήλ μπορεί να έχει δυσκολία με τους επισκέπτες που έρχονται στο σπίτι οπότε χρειάζεται ένα σπίτι χωρίς πολλούς επισκέπτες και τη δυνατότητα να τον τοποθετήσουν σε ένα άλλο δωμάτιο όταν έρχονται άλλοι. Θα χρειαστεί να αποδεχτούν άτομα που είναι έτοιμα να τον συναντήσουν πολλές φορές για να αναπτύξουν ένα δεσμό μαζί του! Ο Γαβριήλ χρειάζεται μια πολύ δομημένη, συγκεκριμένη οικογένεια με εμπειρούς ιδιοκτήτες που είναι αξιόπιστοι, ήρεμοι και συνεπείς. Δεν είναι το σκύλος που πρέπει να το αφήσεις στο κρεβάτι ή να συνεχίσει να μαζεύει παιχνίδια και δεν θα θέλαμε να τον τοποθετήσουμε σε αποτυχία. Αντίθετα, χρειάζεται ξεκαθαρισμένους κανόνες, το δικό του χώρο και καθοδήγηση που του βοηθά να νιώθει ασφαλής και να καταλάβει τι απαιτείται από αυτόν. Οι ιδιοκτήτες του θα πρέπει να κατανοήσουν ότι έχει τη δυνατότητα να φυλάξει υψηλής τιμής αντικείμενα ή χώρους ύπνου και θα πρέπει να εργαστεί μαζί του. Η σεβασμός των συνόρων του είναι απαραίτητος για την καλή του υγεία και την επιτυχία του. Θα χρειαστεί και φυσική και μαντική αντιμετώπιση κάθε μέρα, όποια και αν είναι η καλοκαιρινή. Καθημερινές βόλτες, εμπειρίες και εγκεφαλικά παιχνίδια είναι απαραίτητα για να διατηρήσουν το δραστήριο μυαλό του ενεργό και να τον βοηθήσουν να παραμείνει ισορροπημένος και αγαπημένος. Gabriel originally came to us from a breeder, and for him the world felt like a very frightening place. He was worried of people, the new environments, and unfamiliar experiences left him feeling overwhelmed, and even something as simple as having a lead put on was a huge challenge. He needed time, patience, and gentle encouragement to begin to feel safe. Gabriel was adopted for a short period, but unfortunately it was not the right fit for him, and he was returned after displaying unwanted behaviours in the home and unfortunately making the wrong choices when he felt uncomfortable in a situation, which did result in Gabriel biting. He will need a quiet adult-only home without resident or visiting children to ensure he can get the structure he is needing. Gabriel can struggle with visitors coming to the house so will need a home without too many visitors and the ability to put him in a different room when people do some over. He will need adopters who are willing to meet him multiple times to develop a bond with him! Gabriel requires a highly structured, boundary-focused home with experienced owners who are confident, calm, and consistent. He is not a dog who should be allowed on the sofa or cuddling up with toys and we would not want him to be set up for failure. Instead, he needs clear rules, his own space, and guidance that helps him feel secure and understand what is expected of him. His adopters will need to understand that he has potential to guard high value items or sleeping spaces and will need to work with him. Respecting his boundaries is essential to his wellbeing and success. He will need both physical and mental stimulation every single day, whatever the weather. Regular walks, enrichment, and brain games are a must to keep his active mind engaged and to help him remain balanced and settled. Despite his difficult start, Gabriel has made remarkable progress. These days, he can’t wait for his walks and becomes visibly excited when he sees his lead come out. He now allows his harness to be put on and walks beautifully, thoroughly enjoying his outdoor adventures. Gabriel is a very clever boy and a true foodie, which makes training both rewarding and enjoyable. He already knows cues such as “sit” and “paw” and loves learning new skills. He thrives with clear guidance, consistency, and ongoing training, and will do best with an experienced owner who enjoys working with dogs and building a strong, structured relationship. Gabriel forms very strong bonds with his people and is deeply loyal once trust is established. Because of this, he has shown signs of separation anxiety and will need adopters who are home for the majority of the time. He is not suited to being left alone for long periods and will thrive best with someone who can make him a central part of their daily routine. While he is not a dog who seeks constant physical closeness, once a bond is formed he does enjoy affection and gentle fuss in his own way. He could live as the only dog, enjoying one-to-one attention, or potentially alongside a calm, confident resident dog who respects his space. He will need a home with no cats or small furries. Gabriel has worked incredibly hard to overcome his fears and has already come so far. He is now searching for a forever home that will offer him understanding, structure, commitment, and the chance to live a fulfilled life. For the right, experienced person, Gabriel will be a loyal and rewarding companion. This dog can be homed with a resident dog.
