Lysimachos, first of all, has highlights in his fur and that needs to be said, because it matters. And not just anywhere, but in his rich, abundant, soft, almost glorious coat. As he strolls around carefree, his fur and tail move with him, back and forth, like what he’s wearing isn’t just a coat, but the latest fashion statement, and he knows it. He’s young, handsome, and fresh, almost like something imagined rather than real. An exceptional dog, social, cheerful, and cooperative. He knows when to release his energy, when to enjoy a proper walk, and when to sit calmly by your side. He’s not a dog who asks for more than he needs, nor one who settles for less. He’s balanced, and with routine, exercise, and companionship, he becomes the perfect housemate and the perfect friend. Lysimachos has spent some time in a foster home, so we know more about him than we would from shelter observation alone. He is crate-trained and actually enjoys it, and it will be important for him to continue using it in his adoptive home. At times, he can be reactive outdoors, especially with certain people. This is something that can be addressed with proper training, and in dogs like him, the improvement can be significant. He is also quite wary of unfamiliar people entering the home. As wonderful as he is with his own family, he does not welcome strangers inside. This too can be managed with training. Still, he is unlikely to become the kind of dog who mingles freely with guests during gatherings. He will rest calmly in his crate or in another room until visitors leave. When he was living as a stray, he would often visit cafés, seeking out people to be around. He was incredibly friendly and joyful. If you come meet him at the shelter, he will greet you with a wagging tail, happily go for a walk with you, and trust you right away. He is very friendly with people, but once he bonds with his family, he can become more cautious with strangers. This is a behavioral trait that can be improved with the right guidance and training. Truly, Lysimachos is a wonderful dog, perfect in his own imperfect way, and he deserves, at last, to live happily in a home.
