Rye has come to us from a breeder to find her forever home. When she first arrived she was an extremely worried little girl who was very unsure of people and handling, but since moving into foster she has already started to make lovely progress and slowly come out of her shell. Rye is still a shy and sensitive girl who will need a calm, quiet adult-only home where she can continue to build confidence at her own pace. She would benefit from adopters who understand nervous ex-breeding dogs and are happy to give her the time and patience she needs without expecting too much too soon. Since being in foster, Rye has become increasingly curious about home life and enjoys quietly following her foster carer around the house to see what’s going on. She has started choosing to sit on the sofa nearby and is even beginning to nudge hands for interaction, although she is not yet fully comfortable with being stroked. These small moments are huge steps for Rye and show just how much potential she has with the right support. Rye gets on very well with the other dogs in her foster home and will need at least one kind and confident resident dog in her new home to help guide and reassure her. Although she enjoys canine company and will sometimes snuggle up with the other dogs, she also has an independent side and is happy doing her own thing too. One thing Rye absolutely loves is toys! She has become quite toy obsessed and loves collecting them around the house, which has been a lovely glimpse of her personality beginning to shine through. As Rye had never lived in a home before foster care, her adopters will need to continue helping her learn about everyday life, including house training and building confidence with a lead and harness. With patient and compassionate adopters by her side, Rye has every chance to continue blossoming into a happy little companion. She has a mild underbite that does not seem to bother her but should be monitored in her new home for any future dental treatment she may need. This dog can be homed with a resident dog.
