Caramelo on Podenco, joka tuli meille kodista, mutta sen omistajat luovuttivat sen, kuulemma siksi, että heillä oli vaikeuksia löytää asuntoa koiran kanssa. Se saapui tarhalle hyvässä kunnossa, hyvin ruokittuna ja hyvänkarvaisena – siitä olemme ainakin iloisia, sillä useimmat Podencot saapuvat meille huonossa kunnossa. Epäonnekkaalla pojalla oli ensi saapumisessa niin paljon stressiä ja jännitystä, ja uskomme, että se oli todennäköisesti ainoa koira kotona – Podencot ovat yleensä sosiaalisia koiria ja viettävät parhaiten ryhmässä. Caramelo oli niin iloinen tavatessaan muita Podencoja, ja se asuu nyt yhdessä toisen nuoren Podenco-pojan ja naishaukan kanssa. He juoksevat ja leikkivät ihanasti yhdessä, ja juuri siksi haluaisimme löytää Caramelolle kodin, jossa olisi jo 1 tai useampi koirakaveri odottamassa, joiden kanssa leikkiä ja juoksuttaa. Se voisi myös olla ainoa koira kodissa, mutta vain silloin, kun sille taataan erittäin säännöllinen kontakti muihin koiriin, jotta sen sosiaaliset ja emotionaaliset tarpeet koiraystävyydestä voidaan tyydyttää. Emme vielä tiedä, miten Caramelo pärjäisi vilkkaammassa ympäristössä; tämä testataan ajan saatossa. Tällä hetkellä se etsii kodia lähellä luontoa ja varmasti turvallisella ulkotilalla. Caramelo on todella mukava kaveri – se tarvitsee vain hetken tottua paikkaan ja ihmisiin ympärillään, ja sen jälkeen se alkaa olla leikkisä ja hellyydenhaluinen. Se kävelee myös erinomaisesti hihnassa. Eräs erikoisuus Caramelossa on sen kierretty possunpyrstö! Yleensä Podencoilla ei ole kierrettä pyrstöä, joten se erottuu ehdottomasti kavereistaan! Sen hartian korkeus on 51 cm. Koska se on jo kodista tullut, oletamme sen olevan sisäsiisti ja sopeutuu uuteen kotiin todennäköisesti nopeasti.

Caramelo is a Podenco coming from a home, but he was given away by his humans, reportedly due to difficulties finding a place to live with a dog. He arrived to the shelter in good shape, well-eaten, good fur - so at least we are happy for that, as most Podencos arrive to us in poor conditions. The poor boy was so stressed and tense when he first arrived, and we think he most likely was an only dog of the home - Podencos usually are social dogs and mostly live best in groups. Caramelo was so happy to meet other Podencos, and he now lives together with another young Podenco boy and a female as well. They run and play so nicely together, and especially for that reason, we would love to find a home for Caramelo, where he would have 1 or more dog friends already waiting for him, to play and run together. He could potentially also be an only dog of a home, strictly in case very regular contact with other dogs is provided to him, to satisfy his social and emotional needs for canine companionship. We do not yet know how Caramelo would feel in a busier environment, this will be tested out over time, at the moment he is looking for a home close to the nature, and quite surely with a secure outdoors space. Caramelo is a really cool guy - he just needs a moment to feel comfortable with where he is and who is around him, and then he becomes playful and affectionate. He also walks very well on the leash. One special things about Caramelo is his curled up pig tail! Usually Podencos do not have a curled tail, so he definitely stands out among his friends! His shoulder height is 51cm. As he is already coming from a home, then we assume he is house-clean and will most likely quickly settle in to a new home as well.
