Rhubarbin tarina alkoi Romaniasta, missä hän syntyi koulussa. Paikallinen eläinsuojeluviranomainen soitti ja koirankirppujen tuli kerätä koko pentue talteen. Siitä päivästä lähtien Rhubarb on tuntenut vain hyvin vilkasta ja kaoottista elämää romanialaisessa julkisessa turvakodissa. Rhubarb oli peräisin suuresta pentueesta, ja kaikki sen sisarukset adoptoitiin nopeasti ja aloittivat uuden elämänsä Iso-Britanniassa. Rhubarb jäi taakse veljensä Taton kanssa, ja molemmat kasvoivat yhä pelokkaammiksi ihmisiä kohtaan. Päädyimme ottamaan nämä pennut hoitoon ennen kuin he menettäisivät mahdollisuutensa löytää koskaan oma perhe – he olisivat muuttuneet siellä vain numeroiksi eivätkä olisi enää nähneet uusia kasvoja tai pelästettyjä koiria. Rhubarb on ollut meillä jo muutaman viikon, ja sen edistys on hidasta. Se tarvitsee erityisen kärsivällisen ja ymmärtäväisen kodin auttaakseen sen rauhoittumaan ja tuntea itsensä turvallisesti. Koko Rhubarbin maailma on muita koiria; se ei pärjäisi kodissa, jossa ei asuisi ainakaan yhtä toista asukas-koiraa, joka olisi ystävällinen, itsevarma ja osaisi opettaa sille, mitä seuraa kun on ihan vaan koira. Rhubarb on liian peloissaan voidakseen turvallisesti testata kissanystävyyttä tällä hetkellä. Rhubarb on liian peloissaan nähdäkseen, millaisia energiatasoja sillä todella olisi kodissa, mutta se IHANAA juosta ja leikkiä muiden koirien kanssa rescue-keskuksessa. Niin kauan kuin Rhubarb on jonkun toisen koiran kanssa, sen pitäisi pärjätä jättääksi noin 4 tuntia. Ilman toista koiraa sillä on vakava ahdistus ja se huutaa paikan täyteen. Sen on ajan mittaan pikkuhiljaa opittava, että yksinolokin on ok ja että se on turvassa – se ei ole koskaan ollut ilman muita koiria useammin kuin muutaman minuutin ajan. Rhubarb on liian peloissaan yrittääkseen valjastuskoulutusta tällä hetkellä. Rhubarbilla ei ole lainkaan peruskoulutusta.

Rhubarb's story started in Romania where she was born in a school. The local pound was called and the dog catchers went to round up the full litter. From that day, all she has ever known is a very busy and chaotic life in a Romanian public shelter. It was a large litter that Rhubarb came from and all of her siblings were quickly adopted and starting their new lives in the UK. Rhubarb was left behind with her brother Tato where they both grew ever more fearful of humans. We agreed to take these babies on before they lost their chance of ever being able to find a family of their own as they would have just become numbers over there and lost of the ever expanding faces or terrified dogs. Rhubarb has been with us a few weeks now and is making slow progess, she's going to need a very patient and understanding home to help her settle in and feel safe. Rhubarb's whole world is other dogs, she wont' cope in a home without at least one other resident dog living there, one that is friendly, confident and can show them how to just be a dog. Rhubarb is too fearful to be able to safely cat test at this time. Rhubarb is too scared to see what her real energy levels would be like in a home but she does LOVE to run and play around with the other dogs at the rescue So long as Rhubarb is with another dog, she should be ok to be left for approx 4 hours. Without another dog, she has serious anxiety and will scream the place down. She will need to slowly learn over time that it is ok to be alone and that she is safe, she has never not been around other dogs for more than a few minutes. Rhubarb is too fearful to attempt lead training at this time Rhubarb has no form of basic training
