Cloe is a very worried little lady who has come to us from a breeding environment and is still learning that people can be kind. It is clear she has had very little positive experience with humans in the past, and as a result she finds trust incredibly difficult. She can be flighty when worried and may choose to protect herself if she feels pressured or uncomfortable. Cloe is a sweet but complex girl who has already shown us that, once she truly trusts someone, she has a wonderful and affectionate side. With her favourite member of staff, the very first person who cared for her when she arrived, she is a completely different dog. She happily approaches for attention, enjoys gentle fusses, is comfortable being picked up, and greets him with excitement and affection. Watching the bond they have built is incredibly special and shows just how much potential Cloe has when given the time she needs to feel safe. Since arriving with us, Cloe has continued to make lovely progress. There is now a real sparkle in her eyes that seems to grow brighter every day. She is much perkier, always happy to see familiar faces, and is even beginning to show a mischievous little side that makes everyone smile. She has become an absolute joy to care for and has settled into her daily routine beautifully. Although trust does not come easily to Cloe, she is becoming increasingly comfortable with the people she knows. She is now much more accepting of being picked up and handled and takes these interactions in her stride. She recently enjoyed a pamper session in our grooming room, where she happily allowed her beautiful coat to be brushed and a few small matts to be clipped away, taking the whole experience in her stride. Moments like these are a wonderful reminder of just how far she has already come. Cloe has also recently started her harness training. Although she is still a little too timid to venture out on walks just yet, she is making a fantastic start and we are confident that, with a little more time and encouragement, she will soon be ready to begin exploring the world beyond the rescue. Cloe will need a calm and quiet adult-only home with no visiting children and adopters who have experience of very worried ex-breeding dogs. Her new family will need to understand that building a relationship with her is likely to take time and that progress will come through patience, consistency, and allowing her to make her own choices. The best way to win Cloe over is to let her approach on her own terms. She needs people who can resist the temptation to rush her and instead allow her to work out for herself that they are safe and trustworthy. Once she reaches that point, we believe she has the potential to become a truly loving and devoted companion. Cloe absolutely loves the company of other dogs and will need a kind, calm, and confident resident dog in her new home. Having a canine friend gives her comfort and reassurance and will help guide her as she learns about life beyond the rescue. We have also discovered that Cloe is not comfortable around cats and can become quite fixated by them, so she will need a cat-free home. As she has never lived in a home before, Cloe's adopters will need to be patient as she learns all about home life, including house training and other everyday routines. She has now started to become familiar with wearing a harness, and while she is not yet ready to walk on lead, her adopters should continue this training gently and positively, allowing her confidence to grow at her own pace. Although progress with Cloe may be slow at times, she continues to surprise us with just how much she is blossoming. She is becoming more affectionate with every passing week, and it has been a privilege to watch her begin to enjoy life. In a loving home where she has all the time in the world to build trust, alongside a kind resident dog, we believe she will flourish into an incredibly devoted companion. She has already waited far too long for the family she deserves, and we can't wait to see her finally find it. Cloe has had 7 teeth extracted at the time of her spay, as well as an inguinal hernia repaired. She also had a lump removed from her right upper eyelid. Cloe has a travel document. This dog can be homed with a resident dog.
