Archer arrived at Bristol ARC after he had been found straying. He is an affectionate, energetic young boy with a fun-loving personality. He loves playing with toys, whether that’s an interactive game with his carer or entertaining himself. When he’s especially excited, he enjoys a good zoom around before coming back for cuddles and more playtime. He’s becoming increasingly confident at exploring independently while still checking back in with his carer for reassurance and affection. Archer enjoys learning and responds well to training. He already knows “sit” and “down,” and he’s currently making excellent progress with muzzle training, due to his high prey drive. Training will need to continue when he is adopted by his new family. Archer loves his walks and is generally well-mannered around people and bikes when out and about. He really likes other dogs which will cause him to cry and occasionally bark when passing dogs, this is due to frustration as he only wants to greet or play with them. We have been teaching him the cue words “look at me” when dogs are approaching and rewarding him with treats, this has been helping to distract Archer and prevent him becoming worked up that he is unable to say hello. Soft toys are his absolute favourite, although he’s happy to play with a variety of toys. After a fun day of adventures and games, he’s equally content to settle down for some affection and quality cuddle time. Archer does have a high prey drive, so his new home will need to be mindful of managing this appropriately and continuing the great training work he has already started. With the right guidance, this special boy will make a wonderful family member who brings plenty of fun, affection, and enthusiasm to everyday life.
