Dog FriendlyCat TrainableLow Prey DriveA quiet family home that doesn't mind a bed hog!Hi! I’m Bonnie, and I’m just a wee little lurcher looking for my forever family. I was picked up by the council after I was found straying, but sadly my humans never came to claim me…I don’t know why because I’m a really good girl. Thankfully, TZZ were able to offer me a second chance and I was whisked away to foster with a really sweet couple. They’ve been ever so kind to me and have helped me start to put some weight back on. Everyone keeps saying I’m a bag of bones, which, frankly, is a bit rude. You really shouldn’t comment on a lady’s weight…even if it is true. But I’ll get there, I’m already looking so much better. Sadly, I don’t speak English so I’ve not been able to tell my fosters about my past or what my name was in my previous life, so have had to show them in other ways. Like how I’m perfectly house trained and love to sleep in their bed. Like how affectionate and fun and silly I am. How I’m such a quick learner that I’ve already learnt my new name…and not to counter surf…but if they leave food just sitting out in the open, what do they expect? But I’m very well behaved with my food, and I like to play with my toys and do zoomies, and how no chair is sacred once you get up. I will be in it like a shot to steal the warm spot, even if they’re coming back! I’m even a really good girl on the lead and on walks, I even already have a little bit of recall, but they obviously haven’t let me off the lead, because that would be a bit silly given they’ve only known me a few weeks. I haven’t got a prey drive either, which I’ve been told makes me a fake sighthound, but really, I am just above all that nonsense. Cats? Squirrels? Who cares. I would rather sniff around and enjoy my walks then get all worked up over that nonsense. I was initially quite worried of dogs when I was first rescued but my humans think this was an after affect from being in those scary council kennels because I've really come out my shell and quite like the company of other dogs now. I'm not super keen on really boisterous or bouncy dogs that get all up in my business but the others are all okay, I have even made good friends with a labrador and asked her to play with me! My humans are working really hard to positively socialise me with other dogs, and they have a lot of friends with dogs, so I'm getting to meet everyone! When my fosters had to go away for a few days, I had to go stay with another foster and she had three dogs, and that wasn't so bad. I quite liked the chihuahua when I realised she wasn't going to hurt me, and even coped sharing the human bed with her and one of the other sighthounds. But I was still only pretty new to my new life then so was still a bit worried, I have come on leaps and bounds since then. I don’t mind meeting new humans out and about, but I do like to take it at my own speed. Groups of teenagers though, I’ll take a pass on those. I'm not a big fan of busy places, as I'm not the most confident girlie in the world, but I'm learning. I've been to the pet shop, the pub, and been off to my fosters holiday home where I settled in as if it was just another monday. No stress at all. As long as I have somewhere to lay down and snooze or sit where I can watch the world go by, I'm quite happy. Though I do very much prefer going for walks in the woods and parks where I can sniff to my hearts content! But that aside, all round, I’m the perfect girl. I’m fantastic indoors, a proper snuggly home body who loves my humans. I have started separation training with my fosters, and they are building that up slowly so I can be the perfect hound I know I am! I have really been tossed from pillar to post, and been through so much lately, that separation training may take a little minute, but I know I can get there if given the time. I am fostering in Oxfordshire, but I would be happy to live anywhere in the UK. Especially if there is lots of lovely walks around! TZZ would love to find me a proper adopter but would very much consider a Foster2Adopt as my current fosters are going on holiday at the end of September!
