Adottare Charlie
Mastiff · Maschio · Giovane · 1 anno
20-05-26 Charlie is a handsome young Mastiff x Great Dane who came to us as a stray, so we have no history of his background. When he first arrived, he showed a worried side and would bark, but he quickly bonded with staff and has settled in beautifully. Charlie is now a very affectionate and friendly boy who greets people as though he has always known them. He absolutely adores his kennel mum and loves spending time with people, happily seeking out fuss and attention - even attempting to sit on laps, despite his size! He is great with handling, excellent for the vets, and very food motivated, which has been helpful with his training. Charlie gets on wonderfully with other dogs and mixes well with larger, female dogs in particular, so he could share his home with a calm, confident dog of a similar size. However, he is also confident enough to live as the only dog, provided his adopters are around for much of the day to keep him company. He cannot live with cats. As Charlie came to us as a stray, we are unsure of his previous experience in a home, so some toilet training may be needed as he settles into a routine. He can already walk nicely on a lead and would enjoy one or two walks around the local area once he is settled in. Charlie could share his home with dog-savvy teenagers aged 16 and over who have experience with larger breeds. As he is still young and learning, he can be a little mouthy during play, but he is responding well to training and is already learning to sit instead. Any teenagers in the home will need to be confident and understanding as he continues to learn his manners. On arrival, Charlie appeared to have slightly wobbly back legs. At this stage, the vets are not concerned, as this can be quite typical for large, growing breeds, but it is something that will continue to be monitored. He is also a little underweight currently, so this will need some management moving forward. Charlie does find being left on his own difficult and will bark when alone, so he will need a home where someone is around most of the time initially, with any time left alone built up gradually. He is also working on his manners around food, as he is very enthusiastic when treats are involved. He will need a secure garden with 6ft fences. Charlie is a fun-loving, goofy boy who enjoys spending time in the office watching the world go by. He is full of character and affection, and with the right guidance and companionship, he will make a fantastic addition to a home that understands large breeds and is ready to continue his training and development. This dog can be homed with a resident dog.
