Chico è un bellissimo pod la cui origine, come per tanti podencos, è sconosciuta ma fortunatamente è arrivato in cura da uno dei nostri canili partner e ora è in affidamento nel Regno Unito! Questo è ciò che la sua mamma affidataria Sid ha da dire su di lui: "È un ragazzo dolce e vivace che ama le routine e si sta comportando molto bene con l'addestramento. È addestrato alla gabbia (dorme tutta la notte e durante i pasti - è un po' impudente!), completamente addestrato all'igiene, molto motivato dal cibo, quindi è sempre pronto a imparare. Si intende bene con tutti i membri della casa, è tollerante con i bambini più piccoli e ama correre e giocare a tirare. Chico ama giocare - da solo o con le persone - e anche se può essere un po' mordace a volte, ha buone inibizioni del morso e regola il suo gioco in base alle persone con cui è. Gli piacciono anche le coccole con gli adulti e si addormenta volentieri tra le tue braccia. Ama le passeggiate e cammina bene al guinzaglio, anche se può eccitarsi se vede una scimmia! È amichevole e educato quando incontra altri cani e persone." Chico si è molto legato alla sua mamma affidataria e ama le coccole e il gioco con lei, può diventare un po' troppo eccitato come qualsiasi adolescente, quindi i giochi sono un grande stimolo e rilascio per lui. Si intende bene con tutti gli altri membri della casa, compresi i bambini con cui ama giocare. Ha un alto istinto predatorio e si eccita molto in passeggiata quando vede le scimmie, questo può portare a trazione sul guinzaglio richiedendo un addestramento continuo. Dorme bene tutta la notte e è addestrato alla gabbia, è stato lasciato solo per brevi periodi senza problemi - è attualmente l'unico cane in casa, il che gli va bene. Anche se ama salutare altri cani in passeggiata con un cortese balzo di gioco, potrebbe convivere con altri cani. È goloso, quindi necessita di un po' di addestramento continuo riguardo ai pasti umani e al rischio di mangiare da terra, ma è ottimo per l'addestramento. Conserva i suoi premi di alto valore per dopo - li nasconde in giro per casa e giardino. È veloce nell'apprendimento e ha già imparato i comandi basilari dopo appena un mese in casa. Chico ha affrontato molto bene le cose nel breve periodo in affidamento - è ottimo in auto, felice nelle passeggiate con la pettorina e il collare, felice quando gli tagliano le unghie. (meno contento della doccia!) Può ancora trovare alcune cose un po' spaventose e trova il locale kebab intimidatorio, ma sta progredendo e migliorando ogni giorno. I cartelli stradali che lo spaventavano prima li ha superati con il supporto della sua mamma affidataria, quindi sappiamo che può crescere con amore e pazienza. Chico is a gorgeous pod whose background, like so many podencos is unknown but luckily found his way into the care of one of our partner kennels and now into foster in the UK! This is what his foster mum Sid has to say about him: “He’s a lovable, playful lad who thrives on routine and is doing really well with training. He’s crate trained (sleeping overnight and during mealtimes – he is cheeky!), fully toilet trained, and very food-motivated, so he’s always keen to learn. He gets on well with everyone in the household, is tolerant of the younger child and enjoys running around and playing tug. Chico loves to play – either by himself or with his humans – and while he can be a bit mouthy at times, he has great bite inhibition and adjusts his play depending on who he’s with. He also enjoys a cuddle with the adults and will happily fall asleep in your arms. He loves his walks and walks well on the lead, though he can get excited if he spots a squirrel! He’s friendly and polite when meeting other dogs and people.” Chico has bonded hard with his foster mum and loves cuddles and playtime with her, he can get a little over excited like any adolescent so toys are a great stimulant and release for him. He gets on with all other members in the home, including the children who he also enjoys playing with. He does have a high prey drive and gets very excited on walks at squirrels, this can lead to some pulling so requires ongoing training. He sleeps well through the night and is crate trained, he has been left solo for short periods of time with no issues - he is currently the only dog in the home which suits him fine. Although he does love greeting other dogs on walks with a polite play bow so could live with other dogs. He is a foody so this needs a little ongoing training around human meal times and counter surfing, but is great for training him. He will store his high value treats for later - hiding them around the house and garden. He is quick to learn and has basic commands down after just a month in the home. Chico has taken so much in his stride in his short time in foster - he is great in the car, is happy on walks in his harness and collar, happy having his nails trimmed. (less keen on the bath!) He can still find some things a little scary and finds the local kebab shop daunting, but he is progressing and improving daily. Road signs that previously scared him he has been able to overcome with support from his foster so we know he can thrive with love and patience.
