Doris is a super sweet girl who has come into our care from a breeder in search of a new start. Although she arrived at the rescue on the timid side, she has since blossomed into the most loving little girl with a truly special and infectious energy. She has already won over the hearts of the staff with her gentle and kind nature. She will softly approach to ask for a fuss, and if you stop, she will quietly paw for more attention. She particularly loves a good bum scratch! Doris gets on wonderfully with her kennel friends and has always enjoyed their company. However, since spending more time with us and growing in confidence, she has shown that she is equally happy soaking up attention from her people. Because of how well she has coped and settled, we think she could be homed as an only dog with a family who are around most of the time to give her all the love and attention she desires. As Doris has never lived in a home before, she will need to learn all about house training and the other basics of home life. She has made fantastic progress during her time with us, learning how to walk on a harness and growing in confidence with new experiences. She has also spent time in our on-site cabin, which is set up like a home environment, and took it all in her stride. After having a good sniff around and exploring her surroundings, she happily settled down and fell asleep on the sofa next to her kennel mum within ten minutes. With her calm and adaptable nature, we expect her to continue taking these new experiences in her stride with patient guidance. Doris could share her home with calm, dog-savvy teenagers who can appreciate and understand that she will need a gentle and quiet introduction to the home, along with her own space to settle in. Doris has arrived with a bilateral ear infection, which is being treated, and our vets will continue to monitor her to ensure she is comfortable. She has also had 20 teeth extracted and would benefit from a soft food diet going forwards. Doris is a truly lovely girl with a naturally affectionate nature and a wonderful zest for life. She would suit a calmer household where she can enjoy gentle companionship, plenty of affection, and all the comforts of home. Anyone would be very lucky to welcome this sweet little dog into their family. This dog can be homed with a resident dog.
