Dove altri hanno visto una fine per David, noi abbiamo visto l'inizio della sua storia. Georgina è stata portata da noi attraverso il nostro veterinario e questa è una storia che abbiamo sentito troppe volte. Quando i suoi precedenti proprietari si sono resi conto che era positiva al virus della leucemia felina (FeLV), l'hanno abbandonata. I gatti con leucemia felina devono essere tenuti al chiuso per evitare di diffondere il virus ad altri gatti e ridurre il rischio di infezioni. Purtroppo, molti proprietari di gatti non vogliono questo e, proprio come Georgina, vengono abbandonati. Georgina è una delle nostre gatte più tranquille, non una che richiede attenzione, preferisce invece sedersi tranquillamente nelle vicinanze, osservando tutto ciò che accade intorno a lei. Se si passa attraverso la gattara, è probabile che non la si noti subito. E purtroppo, una diagnosi come la sua spesso significa che i gatti vengono trascurati prima ancora che le persone abbiano la possibilità di conoscerli. E questo è un peccato, perché Georgina è molto più di un risultato di un test. È bella, gentile e sta lentamente imparando che le persone possono essere fidate. Where others saw an ending for David, we knew his story was just beginning. Georgina was brought to us through our vet and it's a story we've heard too many times before. When her previous owners realised she was positive for feline leukaemia (FeLV), they surrendered her. Cats with feline leukeamia have to be kept inside to avoid spreading the virus to other cats and mitigate their own risk of infections. Unfortunately, many cat owners don't want this and, just like Georgina, they are given away. Georgina is one our quieter cats, not one to demand attention, instead preferring to sit quietly nearby, watching everything that’s going on around her. If you walk through the cattery, there’s a good chance you won’t notice her straight away. And sadly, a diagnosis like hers often means cats are overlooked before people even get to know them. And that’s a shame, because Georgina is so much more than a test result. She’s beautiful, gentle and slowly learning that people can be trusted.
