10-04-26 Jerry è un bel ragazzo che originariamente è arrivato da un allevatore alcuni anni fa ed è poi andato a vivere in una meravigliosa casa per sempre. Purtroppo, non per colpa sua, è tornato a noi a causa del peggioramento della salute dei suoi adottatori. Jerry è il sogno di ogni amante del Collie! È affettuoso, intelligente e desideroso di far parte della famiglia. È addestrato in casa, cammina bene al guinzaglio e si dice che abbia anche buona richiamo. È un ragazzo molto sveglio che conosce già una serie di comandi come seduto, aspetta, via, lascia e smetti, e prospererebbe in una casa attiva dove può essere stimolato sia mentalmente che fisicamente. Jerry potrebbe essere adottato come cane solo nelle giuste condizioni o potrebbe essere adottato con un altro cane gentile di taglia simile. Sarebbe meglio adattato a una casa solo per adulti e beneficierebbe degli adottatori con esperienza con i cani Collie e con cani in adozione. Amerebbe una casa in campagna, poiché può essere sensibile a certi rumori e quindi le case in aree più trafficate non sarebbero adatte a lui. Beneficierebbe di adottatori che siano presenti gran parte del giorno e abbiano tempo sufficiente da trascorrere con lui. Jerry mostra alcuni segni di ansia da separazione, quindi la sua nuova famiglia dovrà aumentare gradualmente il tempo in cui lo lascia. Si dice che sia felice se lasciato per brevi periodi ma avrà bisogno di pazienza e comprensione mentre si abitua. Non è molto interessato al viaggio in auto e può essere sensibile ai rumori e reagire a rumori come lattine o bottiglie di bevande gassate che si aprono, starnuti, tosse, soffiarsi il naso, macchine per stampare, aspirapolvere, forno a microonde, suoni di rimorchi che indietreggiano, rombi di motociclette, rumori di un campo militare e fuochi d'artificio. Latra verso di te ma con rassicurazione si calma rapidamente. Non ha mai morsicato e è solo preoccupato ma i nuovi padroni dovranno continuare l'addestramento all'abituazione ai rumori in casa. Potrebbe non diventare mai qualcosa che supera completamente. Jerry si è ambientato bene nel rifugio e è un ragazzo meraviglioso che sta già godendosi i coccoloni ed ama molto giocare! È un ragazzo veramente speciale che ha tanto amore da dare e è pronto a trovare una casa calma e comprensiva per chiamarla sua di nuovo. Ha avuto una ferita alla zampa destra che ha causato un zoppio, che si è poi guarito e non mostra più segni di zoppicare. Questo cane può essere adottato con un cane residente.

Jerry is a lovely boy who originally came to us from a breeder a few years ago and went on to find a wonderful forever home. Sadly, through no fault of his own, he has now returned to our care due to his adopters ill health. Jerry is a Collie lover’s dream! He is affectionate, clever and eager to be part of the family. He is house trained, walks nicely on the lead and we are told that he has good recall too. He is a very smart boy who already knows a range of commands including sit, wait, off, drop and leave, and would thrive in an active home where he can be kept both mentally and physically stimulated. Jerry would like to be the only dog in his forever home, however he does enjoy the company of other dogs and would benefit from the opportunity to socialise with other dogs. He would be best suited to an adult only home and would benefit from adopters with collie and rescue dog experience. He would love a rural home, as he can be sensitive to certain sounds and so homes in busier areas wouldn't be suitable for him. He would really benefit from adopters who are around for much of the day and have plenty of time to spend with him. Jerry does show some signs of separation anxiety, so his new family will need to continue building up the time he is left gradually. We are told that he is happy being left for short periods but will need patience and understanding while he settles. He isn’t keen on car travel, and he can be sensitive to sounds and may react to sounds such as fizzy drink cans or bottles opening, sneezing, coughing, nose blowing, printers, hoovers, microwaves, lorry reversing beeps, motorbike revving, army range noise and fireworks. He will bark towards you but with reassurance he settles quickly. He has never bitten and is just worried but his new owners will need to continue noise desensitization training in the home. It may never be something he entirely overcomes. Jerry has settled back into the rescue well and is a wonderful boy who is already enjoying snuggles and really loves to play! He is a truly special boy who has so much love to give and is ready to find a calm, understanding home to call his own once again. He has had a wound on his right paw that has caused a limp, which has since healed and he is no longer showing signs of limping.
