Jilly, nata a giugno 2025, è più felice quando la vita scorre a un ritmo costante e prevedibile. Non è un'esploratrice audace: è più una che sporge la testolina, controlla che la zona sia libera e poi si avvicina pian piano per uno spuntino. Una volta che si sente al sicuro, accetta i bocconcini con impeccabile educazione. Non cerca una casa dove venga maneggiata molto, anche se col tempo potrebbe cambiare idea. Jilly preferisce persone che capiscono che alcuni animali dimostrano affetto semplicemente stando vicino. Starà meglio in un recinto spazioso e sicuro, dove possa scegliere come trascorrere il tempo (dimensioni minime 100 cm x 50 cm x 50 cm). Una buona quantità di spazio calpestabile senza interruzioni la fa sentire sicura. Avere una base solida le permette di scavare gallerie vere senza che nulla le crolli addosso. Le piace avere diverse "zone": un angolo accogliente per dormire, un'area per scavare e un punto più tranquillo per la ruota e il cibo. Jilly adora una lettiera profonda a base di carta, che è delicata per le sue vie respiratorie, facile da scavare e calda. Ne servono almeno 15–20 cm, ma più ne le dai, più sarà felice. Mescolare carta sminuzzata o un po' di fieno l'aiuta a costruire gallerie che restino al loro posto. Tutte le sue gallerie e i suoi rifugi devono essere completamente sicuri da rosicchiare. Tubi di cartone, tunnel di carta, tronchetti di sughero e legno non trattato sono ottimi per lei. Li rosicchierà, li rimodellerà e li farà diventare parte del suo piccolo mondo sotterraneo. I tubi di plastica non sono adatti: li rosicchierebbe anche quelli, e potrebbero rompersi in frammenti taglienti. I tunnel da rosicchiare aiutano inoltre a mantenere sani i denti e le offrono un'attività utile durante le sue ore notturne così indaffarate. Ama i pellet di qualità per criceti e piccole porzioni di verdura fresca, e non rifiuta mai un semino di girasole. L'alimentazione sparsa funziona bene con lei, perché la incoraggia a cercare cibo, esplorare e usare lo spazio in modo naturale. Jilly non cerca emozioni forti, ma apprezza un arricchimento delicato che le permetta di essere un criceto. Una ruota a superficie piena (28 cm o più) è indispensabile per correre in sicurezza. Le piacciono anche giocattoli da foraggiamento riempiti di carta e semi, cartone da sminuzzare, scatole per scavare con consistenze diverse e semplici rifugi da rosicchiare che possa rimodellare. Jilly si adatterebbe a una casa tranquilla e paziente, dove le persone amano osservarla mentre svolge le sue piccole routine. Non ha bisogno di essere maneggiata continuamente, ma ha bisogno di un ambiente che le permetta di vivere come la dolce e gentile criceta che è.

Jilly who was born June 2025, is happiest when life moves at a steady, predictable pace. She’s not a bold explorer; she’s more of a “pop her head out, check the coast is clear, then shuffle over for a snack” kind of girl. Once she feels safe, she’ll take treats with perfect manners. She isn’t looking for a home where she’ll be handled a lot, but may in time change her mind. Jilly prefers people who understand that some animals show affection simply by being nearby. She’ll do best in a spacious, secure enclosure where she can choose how to spend her time (a minimum 100cm x 50cm x 50cm. A good amount of uninterrupted floor space helps her feel confident. Having a solid base means she can build proper burrows without anything collapsing on her. She likes having different “zones” — a cosy sleeping corner, a digging area, and a quieter spot for her wheel and food. Jilly loves a deep bedding, paper-based is good as it is gentle on her breathing, easy to dig and warm. She needs at least 6–8 inches, but the more you give her, the happier she’ll be. Mixing in shredded paper or a little hay helps her build proper tunnels that stay put. All her tunnels and hideouts need to be fully chew‑safe. Cardboard tubes, paper tunnels, cork logs, and untreated wood are all brilliant for her. She’ll chew them, reshape them, and make them part of her little underground world. Plastic tubes aren’t suitable, she’ll chew them too, and they can break into sharp pieces. Chewable tunnels also help keep her teeth healthy and give her something constructive to do during her busy night-time hours. She enjoys a good‑quality hamster pellets and fresh veg in tiny portions and will never turn down a sunflower seed. Scatter‑feeding works well for her and it encourages her to forage, explore, and use her space in a natural way. Jilly isn’t a thrill‑seeker, but she does enjoy gentle enrichment that lets her be a hamster. A solid‑surface wheel (28cm or bigger) is essential for safe running. She also enjoys foraging toys filled with paper and seeds, cardboard to shred, dig boxes with different textures, and simple, chewable hideouts she can remodel. Jilly would suit a calm, patient home where her people enjoy watching her go about her little routines. She doesn’t need constant handling but she does need a setup that lets her live like the lovely, gentle hamster she is.
