Kiara è stata abbandonata dal suo cacciatore quando non era più utile e lasciata a cavarsela da sola per le strade dell'area di Moron, era molto magra e molto spaventata quando è stata salvata nel ottobre 2021. Purtroppo è rimasta lì fino a quando è andata in affidamento nel Regno Unito, come accade spesso per molti podencos nei rifugi locali, vengono trascurati nonostante i tentativi delle associazioni di farle notare. Questo è ciò che dice la sua madre affidataria britannica Emma: "Vivere con Kiara è stato un bel ricordo di quanto siano resistenti e affettuosi i cani, anche dopo anni in un rifugio. Si è adattata alla vita in casa come se ci fosse sempre stata, ha preso il posto preferito sul divano e ha scoperto i migliori snack! È stato incredibile vedere crescere la sua autostima e sta iniziando a scoprire che il mondo fuori dal divano potrebbe essere davvero interessante. Essere con i suoi umani è il suo posto preferito. Kiara ha anche chiesto a noi di valutare i potenziali adottanti per le qualifiche pertinenti: chef personale (spuntini gustosi), massaggiatore (grattini top tier) e designer d'interni (disposizione ottimale del divano e dei coperte). Più di tutto, cerca solo qualcuno che l'ami tanto quanto lei ama loro." Kiara cammina bene al guinzaglio localmente verso il rifugio ma ha impiegato un po' per abituarsi a camminare nel Regno Unito dove c'è più movimento - ma questo è migliorato molto e ora è a suo agio nel passare vicino ad altre persone e cani. Ha bisogno di un giardino perché gode di stare all'esterno ed è abituata a avere questo spazio. Da quando è in casa di accoglienza ha cercato molto la compagnia umana e i grattini, anche giocando con i giochi in casa. Fa la danza più carina quando i suoi genitori adottivi tornano dopo una breve uscita, quindi può stare sola per periodi brevi e ha fatto bene con il training positivo alla gabbia. Pensiamo che una casa con bambini più grandi e adulti sarebbe la migliore combinazione per lei, può ancora essere un po' spaventata e potrebbe trovare l'imprevedibilità dei bambini piccoli un po' sovraccarico. Kiara apprezza molto la compagnia degli altri cani e ne trae fiducia ma non è molto giocosa con loro. Kiara ha bisogno di un altro cane in casa per fiducia e compagnia ma non è molto giocosa in questo momento. Come si può vedere dalle sue foto, Kiara ha un po' di peso in eccesso, pur non avendo problemi di salute è attualmente in un programma di gestione del peso per aiutarla a perdere i chili in eccesso e questo dovrà continuare nella sua casa definitiva. Kiara was abandoned by her hunter when she was no longer of use and left to fend for herself on the streets in the area of Moron, she was very thin and very scared when she was rescued back in October 2021. Sadly this is where she remained until she came to foster in the UK, as is common for many podencos in local rescues, they are overlooked no matter how hard the associations try to get them seen. This is what her UK foster mum Emma has to say about her: “Living with Kiara has been such a lovely reminder of how resilient and loving dogs are, even after years in the shelter. She has settled into life in a home like she’s always been here, the favourite spot on the sofa has been claimed, and the best treats figured out! It’s been incredible to see her grow in confidence, and she’s starting to discover that the world outside the sofa might actually be quite interesting. Just being with her humans is her favourite place to be. Kiara has also asked us to vet potential adopters for the relevant qualifications: personal chef (tasty treats), masseuse (top-tier belly rubs), and interior designer (optimal sofa and blanket arrangements). More than anything, she’s just looking for someone to love her as much as she loves them.” Kiara walked well on the lead locally to the shelter but has taken some time to adjust to walking in the UK where it is busier - but this has improved greatly and she is now comfortable walking past other people and dogs. She needs a garden as she enjoys being outside and is used to having this space. Since being in the foster home she has really sought out human company and belly rubs, even playing with toys in the home. She does the cutest excitable dance when her foster parents return form popping out, so she can be left for short periods of time and has done well with positive crate training. We think a home with older children and adults would be the best match for her, she can still be a little startled and could find the unpredictability of young children a little overwhelming. She really enjoys the company of other dogs and gets confidence from them, we are seeing her start to play now which is wonderful so another dog is a must. As you can see from her pictures Kiara is carrying a little extra weight, whilst she has no health concerns she is currently on a weight management programme to help her loose the extra pounds and this would need to continue in her forever home.
