Lady Penelope o Lady P per short è una splendida, completamente piumata Alexandrine. Era chiamata Bongo, ma il suo adottatore pensava che fosse troppo elegante e una diva, quindi Lady P era più appropriato! Storia/Contesto: Lady P è tornata alla carità a causa di un cambiamento di circostanze con il suo precedente adottatore. Addestramento: Lady P avrà bisogno di addestramento continuo, ha una preferenza definita per i maschi. Sdraiarsi sulla spalla di papà, accoccolarsi nel suo baffo e ronfare! Sebbene sia decisamente meno tollerante (urlare/mordere) per le femmine, salirà su un bastone e prenderà cibo dai vostri dita. Alimentazione: Lady P è in Harrisons High Potency Coarse pellets. Le piace anche una miscela di semi di girasole bassi, sebbene butti via tutti i pezzi che non le piacciono! Quando esce dalla gabbia le piace avere il suo boccone su di essa e andare avanti e indietro prendendo un pellet alla volta verso il suo perche in piedi sul pavimento. Le piace la patata schiacciata, qualsiasi verdura cotta, ma il suo assoluto preferito sono i piselli e li prenderà singolarmente dai vostri dita! Le piace una miscela di frutta/verdura ogni giorno, oppure su uno spiedo appeso o in un piatto. Le piacciono le noci (in particolare le noci pecan), e le pinole. Le piacciono anche le uova, bollite o strapazzate. Arricchimento: Lady P ama un cono di pino in cima alla sua gabbia o all'interno, ne strapperà uno al giorno. Le piace giocare e masticare giocattoli di legno nella sua gabbia. Le piace trascorrere tempo sul suo perche in piedi sul pavimento e fare una bella pulizia e è stupendo guardare. Ha anche un perche sul tavolo, dove volerà e prenderà noci dal piatto. Lady P cercherà di farsi un bagno nel suo bicchiere d'acqua e le piace spruzzare dall'acquario - se è fuori dalla gabbia quando lo fai, aprirà le ali e si butterà sotto una doccia veramente buona! Sintesi: Lady P non parla, ma ha una bellissima canzoncina che le piace cantare. Ha una serie di richiami, dal richiamo di stormo del mattino, al grido indigente "dove sei? – mi hai lasciato?" se l'hai presa ma non hai aperto la gabbia! Ha anche alcuni bei piccoli versi e ronfa molto quando è felice. Quando si sveglia al mattino vuole uscire subito dalla gabbia e urla se non apri la porta. Di solito si alza intorno alle 7 e è solitamente pronta a dormire entro le 19 e te lo fa sapere! Le piace andare a letto e dorme su una certa altalena. Di notte è coperta e si calma molto bene. Lady Penelope or Lady P for short is a beautiful, fully feathered Alexandrine. She used to be called Bongo, but her adopter thought she was far too elegant and such a diva that Lady P was more appropriate! History/Background: Lady P came back into the charity, due to a change of circumstances with her previous adopter. Training: Lady P will need ongoing training, has a definite preference for males. She would sit on her dad's shoulder, snuggle into his beard and purr! Though she is definitely less tolerant (will shout/nip) for females, she will step up onto a stick, and take food from your fingers. Diet: Lady P is on Harrisons High Potency Coarse pellets. She also enjoys a low sunflower seed mix, though she will throw out all the bits she doesn't like! When she is out of the cage she likes having her food bowl on top of the cage and she'll go back and forward taking a pellet at a time to her floor standing perch. She loves mashed potato, any cooked veg, but her absolute favourite is peas and she'll take them individually from your fingers! She likes fruit/veg mix each day, either on a hanging skewer or in a bowl. She enjoys nuts (particularly walnuts), and pine nuts. She also loves eggs, poached or scrambled. Enrichment: Lady P loves a fir cone on top of her cage or inside, she will happily shred one a day. She loves playing with and chewing wooden toys in her cage. She enjoys spending time on her floor standing perch and having a good preen and it's stunning to watch her. She also has table top perch, which she will fly to and take nuts from the bowl. Lady P will try to have a bath in her water bowl, and she enjoys a spray from a water bottle – if she is out of the cage when you do it, she'll usually open her wings and have a really good shower! Summary: Lady P doesn't speak, though she has a lovely little tune she likes to sing. She has a variety of calls from morning flock call, to the indigent ‘ where are you? – you've left me?' shout if you've got her up but not opened the cage! She does have some lovely little chirps and she purrs a lot when shes happy. When she gets up in the morning she likes to come straight out the cage and will shout if you don't open the door. She usually gets up around 7am and is usually ready for bed by 7pm and tells you! She enjoys going to bed and sleeps on one particular swing. She is covered at night and settles really well.
