Queen Meh, se lei ti ama, ti ama. Se non lo fa, scappa! Meh era la nostra prima capra alla finca, con noi fin dall'inizio. Era stata precedentemente salvata e nutrita con il biberon da piccola. Aveva avuto una vita difficile e era stata attaccata da un branco di cani, due volte. Le sue orecchie erano state strappate in due parti dove non si erano rimarginate insieme. Aveva anche una deformità nei suoi corni che significava che crescevano arrotondati verso gli occhi se non monitorati. Aveva avuto gravidanze fantasma regolari ma non era mai riuscita a rimanere effettivamente incinta, per questo era finita da noi. Nonostante tutto questo era vivace ed era una vera caratterista, sempre trovata a mettere la testa attraverso la cucina della casa nella grotta a chiedere brandelli! Era sempre "la vecchia capra", nessuno capiva veramente come ci fosse ancora! Nel tempo, ha dimostrato di essere più forte di tutti. Proprio quando sembrava che fosse la fine, Meh tornava a sorprenderci. Si dice che i gatti abbiano 9 vite, ma pensiamo che Meg ne avesse di più. Era nota per il suo carattere burbero e esigente e non l'avremmo mai avuta in nessun altro modo. Quel carattere forte ha lasciato un'impronta duratura e indimenticabile su tutti coloro che l'hanno conosciuta. Meh non era solo parte del santuario, era il santuario per tanti di noi. A oltre 20 anni e dopo aver ricevuto una diagnosi di tumori cancerosi anni fa, Meh aveva già superato le probabilità per molto tempo. Abbiamo gestito con attenzione la sua cura negli anni, dandole tutto ciò che serviva per rimanere comoda e felice. Tuttavia, negli ultimi mesi, insieme al clima più freddo e severo, abbiamo iniziato a notare un peggioramento. La sua artrosi grave si è aggravata e, nonostante i farmaci, era chiaramente in difficoltà. Abbiamo dovuto separarla dal gregge a causa del bullismo e lentamente, Meh ha iniziato a farci capire che era stanca. In modo suo, ci ha fatto capire che era arrivato il momento. Meh è morta circondata dall'amore, apprezzata per tutto ciò che era, tenuta dalle persone le cui vite aveva toccato così profondamente. Lascia dietro di sé uno spazio enorme, che non può mai essere davvero riempito, ma anche una vita intera di ricordi, resistenza e carattere che non dimenticheremo mai.

Queen Meh, if she loves you, she loves you. If not, run! Meh was our first goat at the finca, with us from the very beginning. She was previously rescued and bottle fed as a poor baby. She had a hard time growing up and was attacked by a pack of dogs, twice. Her ears were ripped in two parts where they didn't heal back together. She also had deformation in her horns which mean they grew round into her eyes if not monitored. She had regular phantom pregnancies and was unable to actually get pregnant, which is why she ended up with us. Despite all this she was feisty and was a real character, always found putting her head through the cave house kitchen asking for scraps! She was always “the old goat”, no one quite understood how she was still going! Time and time again, she proved everyone wrong. Just when it seemed like the end, Meh would bounce back. They say cats have 9 lives, but we think Meg had more. She was known for her grumpy, demanding personality and we wouldn’t have had her any other way. That strong character left a lasting and unforgettable impression on everyone who met her. Meh wasn’t just part of the sanctuary, she was the sanctuary for so many of us. At over 20 years old and having been diagnosed with cancerous tumours years ago, Meh had already defied the odds for a long time. We managed her care closely over the years, giving her everything she needed to stay comfortable and happy. However, in the last few months, alongside the colder and harsher weather, we began to see a decline. Her severe osteoarthritis worsened and, despite medication, she was clearly struggling. We had to separate her from the herd due to bullying and slowly, Meh began to show us that she was getting tired. In her own way, she let us know it was time. Meh passed away surrounded by love, appreciated for everything she was, and held by the people whose lives she touched so deeply. She leaves behind a huge space, one that can never truly be filled, but also a lifetime of memories, resilience, and character that we will never forget.
