Nelson arrived at the shelter following an investigation. He has never had a positive experience with humans and is only just beginning to stop flinching at the touch of a simple petting. Being extremely fearful, he’ll need owners who are knowledgeable, patient, and gentle. He’ll require a calm environment and will not be placed in a busy urban area. At present, we don’t know how he gets along with other dogs—except for his kennel mate, Mandela. We’re also unable to test his compatibility with cats at this time. He won’t be placed with young children, as their energy would frighten Nelson far too much; however, calm teenagers shouldn’t pose any problems. Nelson will need to live in a house with a securely fenced yard. Having never lived indoors, he’ll need constant access to an outdoor space.

Nelson est arrivé au refuge suite à une enquête. Il n’a jamais connu de contact positif avec l’humain, et commence tout juste à ne plus sursauter suite à une simple caresse. Étant très craintif, il aura besoin de trouver des propriétaires avertis, patients et doux. Il aura besoin d’un environnement calme, il ne sera pas placé en pleine ville. Nous ne connaissons pas ses ententes avec les autres chiens pour l’instant, hormis avec son compagnon de box, Mandela. Nous ne pouvons pour l’instant pas tester son entente avec les chats. Il ne sera pas placé avec des enfants en bas âge, leur énergie effraiera bien trop Nelson, mais des adolescents calmes ne poseront pas problème. Nelson devra vivre en maison avec jardin très bien clôturé, n’ayant jamais vécu en intérieur, il aura besoin d’avoir accès à un espace extérieur.
