Adottare Oreo

Un bel castrone con un mantello stupendo e un temperamento allegro. Il cavallo Oreo è arrivato al nostro rifugio insieme ad altri due equini. Aveva trascorso quasi tutta la sua vita in un box. Il suo precedente proprietario pensava che non potesse stare all'aperto con gli altri equini, a causa dei problemi al ginocchio causati da lesioni e deformità ossee di cui non si conosceva l'origine. Essere lasciato nel suo box ha causato un completo disastro ai suoi piedi. Ha sviluppato una grave infezione batterica alle zampe, la podride, che gli ha causato un enorme dolore e problemi di mobilità. La precedente proprietaria di Oreo era triste nel dire addio ai suoi equini, ma non poteva più prendersene cura a causa di circostanze personali. Quando Oreo è arrivato, era molto emotivamente chiuso. Stava con la testa nell'angolo del paddock, anche all'ora del pasto, senza guardare gli altri cavalli o il cibo. Uno dei nostri volontari si è preso cura di lui e ha trascorso mesi lavorando con lui uno a uno per aiutarlo ad aprirsi un po'. Abbiamo curato la sua podride e gestito l'esercizio con cura, assicurandoci che camminasse abbastanza ma non troppo. Ci è voluto molto tempo, ma Oreo è uscito dal suo guscio. È diventato più allegro e interagisce e persino gioca con gli altri cavalli di salvataggio. Fortunatamente, si è adattato bene alla vita della finca. È in buona salute, ma i suoi zoccoli e le sue ginocchia hanno bisogno di molte cure per farlo prosperare. I suoi problemi alle ginocchia non gli causano molti problemi finché viene tenuto attivo. A volte ha funghi sulla pelle, usiamo prodotti naturali per trattarli. Le donazioni fatte per Oreo servono a mantenere la sua salute generale, la cura degli zoccoli e delle ginocchia e la dieta. Oreo è stato adottato nel 2024.05. per accompagnare un altro vecchio cavallo da un'altra finca. È stato bello vivere con lui! Tutto il meglio per il resto, amico!

A beautiful gelding with a gorgeous coat and a cheerful temperament. Rescue horse Oreo arrived at our sanctuary together with two other equines. He had spent almost his entire life inside a stable. His previous owner thought he could not be outside with the other equines, due to his knee problems caused by unknown injuries and bone deformities. Being left in his stable caused complete havoc with his feet. He developed severe thrush, a bacterial infection affecting the hooves, which gave him a huge amount of pain and problems with mobility. Oreos previous owner was sad to say goodbye to her equines, but could no longer take care of them due to personal circumstances. When Oreo arrived he was very emotionally shut down. He would stand with his head in the corner of the paddock, even at feeding time, not looking at other horses or the food. One of our volunteers took special care of him and spent months working with him one on one to help him open up a little bit. We treated his thrush and manage his exercise carefully, making sure he walks enough but not too much. It took a long time, but Oreo came out of his shell. He has become more cheerful and interacts and even plays with the other rescue horses. Luckily, he has adapted to finca life really well. He is in good health, but his hooves and knees need a lot of care to keep him flourishing. His knee issues don’t cause him many problems as long as he is kept active. Sometimes he gets skin fungus, we use natural products to treat that. Donations made towards Oreo go to keeping up with his general health, hoof and knee care and diet. Oreo got adopted in 2024.05. to accompany an other old horse of another finca. Was lovely to live with him! All the bests for the rest buddy! 🙂
