Gustaw to cudowny pies w typie owczarka. Został oceniony na około 6 lat. To pies o niezwykle łagodnym usposobieniu, który od razu wzbudza sympatię. Na początku pobytu w schronisku był nieśmiały i trochę przerażony nową rzeczywistością. Wszystko było dla niego obce i trudne do zrozumienia. Jednak wystarczyło trochę czasu, spacer i odrobina bliskości, by pokazał, jakim wspaniałym jest towarzyszem. Na smyczy chodzi wzorowo. Nie ciągnie, nie szarpie, spokojnie dopasowuje krok do swojego opiekuna. Nie reaguje nerwowo na inne psy, nie szuka konfliktów – to pies zrównoważony, pełen spokoju i łagodności. Najbardziej jednak Gustaw pragnie bliskości z człowiekiem. W jego oczach widać tęsknotę za domem, w którym ktoś wreszcie da mu poczucie bezpieczeństwa i miłości.
