Dear Poppy arrived at Mayhew Animal Home in North London with another Pug named Violet following the passing of their owner. She could be rehomed with Violet, but this is not essential. Poppy is looking for a calm and quiet home with an understanding person or family that will advocate for her and allow her to flourish at her own pace. She will make the perfect little companion for the right adopter. Poppy and Violet! Poppy is 9 year old Pug and weighs 6.6kg. She is a sweet and gentle soul with a sensitive nature. She can be shy when meeting new people but, with time and a calm approach, she enjoys affection from her trusted people. She likes to go on sniffy adventures, taking her time to check out her environment. She is happy to greet other dogs but can be worried by some, so she will need an owner who will provide her with support and guidance at times. Poppy can live in a flat as long as there is direct access to a private garden. She is happy to live with dog-savvy, older teenagers aged 16+ providing they will give her space when needed and could live with a calm, well adjusted dog, subject to a successful meet at Mayhew. Poppy is a brachycephalic breed type and her adopter will need to be knowledgeable about brachy care and have researched her breed. They will need to take care with excessive exercise and hot weather, maintain her weight and ensure her skin folds are kept clean. Poppy has had a dental with extractions whilst in care. Poppy has been microchipped, neutered and vaccinated and is up-to-date with flea and worming treatment. She has also been health checked and behaviourally assessed.
