Da timido, ansioso e tremante a affettuoso, giocoso e felice, Raz è arrivato a noi dal più grande canile dell'isola. Cerchiamo di collaborare con loro e di accogliere alcuni cani che faticano nell'ambiente molto affollato o cani anziani senza possibilità di adozione. Raz è un cane timido e molto calmo, quindi il canile era troppo per lui. Questo piccolo dolce aveva bisogno di un ambiente più tranquillo e di un posto dove sentirsi al sicuro e amato, qualcosa che non aveva mai sperimentato. Tuttavia, dopo essere arrivato qui, era ancora sopraffatto dal numero di persone e animali. Gli anni trascorsi da solo in un grande canile hanno lasciato il segno su di lui e era afflitto da ansia, sopraffatto dalla paura e incerto su come esistere fuori dalle mura che lo avevano confinato per così tanto tempo. Tremava costantemente, incapace di capire la libertà che aveva improvvisamente dopo quasi un decennio in una gabbia. Gli effetti del suo passato non erano solo emotivi ma anche fisici. Raz aveva trascorso così tanti anni a camminare in cerchio che i suoi muscoli, la sua postura e persino la struttura del suo corpo erano cambiati. Per mesi dopo l'arrivo, ha continuato questa routine straziante, vagando per la finca in cerchi ansiosi, incapace di stabilirsi, incapace di riposare. Nonostante tutta la nostra pazienza, coerenza e cura delicata, Raz ha faticato a far entrare chiunque... finché un giorno, qualcosa è cambiato. Si è connesso con uno dei nostri volontari, ed è stato come guardare il tempo che si riavvolge. Questo cane chiuso, timoroso e tremante ha iniziato a trasformarsi davanti ai nostri occhi. Il cambiamento è stato straordinario. Raz lentamente è sbocciato in un'anima dolce e affettuosa che voleva giocare, fare amicizia, godersi le leccornie e, soprattutto, sperimentare l'amore per la prima volta. Raz ha finalmente imparato cosa significa svegliarsi eccitato per un nuovo giorno. Sebbene il trauma e la negligenza che ha subito lo influenzino ancora sotto forma di abitudini di stress come l'eccessiva toelettatura e la sensibilità ai cambiamenti di routine, non vive più nella paura. Queste sfide richiederanno una gestione per tutta la vita, ma Raz ora affronta il mondo con conforto, sicurezza e vera felicità. Raz può aver avuto un passato molto difficile, ma ogni giorno qui è un promemoria che sta guarendo, è amato e sta finalmente imparando come vivere veramente.

From fearful, anxious and trembling to affectionate, playful and happy Raz came to us from the island's biggest dog shelter. We try to work together with them and take in some dogs who really struggle in the very busy environment or old dogs with no chance of being adopted. Raz is a shy and very calm dog, so the shelter was far too much for him. This little sweetie needed a calmer environment and a place to feel safe and loved – something he had never experienced. However, after arriving here, he was still overwhelmed by the number of people and animals. The years alone in a big shelter left their mark on him and he was riddled with a nxiety, overwhelmed by fear, and unsure of how to exist outside the walls that had confined him for so much of his life. He trembled constantly, unable to understand the freedom he suddenly had after nearly a decade in a cage. The effects of his past were not only emotional but physical. Raz had spent so many years pacing in tight circles that his muscles, posture, and even the structure of his body had changed. For months after arriving, he continued this heart-breaking routine, wandering the finca in anxious circles, unable to settle, unable to rest. Despite all our patience, consistency, and gentle care, Raz struggled to let anyone in… until one day, something changed. He connected with one of our volunteers, and it was like watching time rewind itself. This shut-down, fearful, trembling dog began transforming before our eyes. The shift was extraordinary. Raz slowly blossomed into a sweet, affectionate soul who wanted to play, make friends, enjoy treats and, most importantly, experience love for the very first time. Raz finally learned what it meant to wake up excited for a new day. Although the trauma and neglect he endured still affect him in the form of stress habits like over-grooming and sensitivity around routine changes, he is no longer living in fear. These challenges will need lifelong management, but Raz now faces the world with comfort, safety, and genuine happiness. Raz may have had a very difficult past, but every day here is a reminder that he is healing, he is loved, and he is finally learning how to truly live.
