River è entrata in nostro affidamento nel 2020 da un allevatore ed è stata adottata in una casa amorevole. Purtroppo, la sua famiglia ha successivamente scoperto di non essere in grado di soddisfare ulteriormente i suoi bisogni e River è ora tornata da noi. River è una ragazza molto intelligente e affettuosa che forma legami molto forti con le persone. Secondo la sua precedente casa, una volta che si sente sicura è estremamente dolce, ama il contatto ravvicinato e cerca rassicurazione da chi fa parte della sua cerchia. Le piacciono i coccoloni, le grattatine dolci e stare vicino ai suoi umani, e è molto sensibile alle loro emozioni, spesso offrendo conforto quando qualcuno si sente triste. River è una cane sveglia e entusiasta che già conosce una vasta gamma di comandi e ama l'addestramento, l'enrichment e la stimolazione mentale. Le piacciono i suoi giochi, soprattutto palle e giochi di tiro, ama i giochi olfattivi come "trova il gioco" e è molto motivata dal cibo, il burro di arachidi è il suo assoluto preferito! Si adatta bene a casa, apprezza la routine e la struttura, ed è pulita e non distruttiva. River ama le sue passeggiate e si adatterebbe a una casa attiva con accesso a percorsi più tranquilli. Cammina bene con il halter e gode del tempo all'aperto, ma può trovare ambienti caotici sovraccarichi e reagire a cani, furgoni o motociclette quando è ansiosa. Avrà bisogno di gestione sicura e continua e dovrà rimanere al guinzaglio a meno che non sia in un'area sicura. Anche se affettuosa e dolce, River è un cane sensibile e potrebbe avere difficoltà con le persone sconosciute, gli ospiti e i rumori forti o improvvisi come i fuochi d'artificio. Quando spaventata potrebbe abbaiare o ritirarsi. Per questo motivo, River cerca una casa calma, silenziosa e riservata, senza visitatori, idealmente in un ambiente rurale o semi-rurale. I suoi adottatori devono essere esperti con cani reattivi, pazienti e disposti a lavorare al suo ritmo rispettando i suoi confini. Siamo informati che occasionalmente River può mostrare comportamenti di protezione verso le sue persone fidate, come ringhiare se un'altra persona entra nella stanza mentre è rilassata. Questo richiederà una gestione calma, sicura ed esperta. River sta cercando adesso una casa come cane unico, anche se in passato ha vissuto con un altro piccolo cane e potrebbe convivere con un compagno tranquillo dopo introduzioni attente. River originally came into our care in 2020 from a breeder and was adopted into a loving home. Sadly, her family later found they were unable to continue meeting her needs, and River has now returned to us. River is a highly intelligent, affectionate girl who forms very strong bonds with her people. According to her previous home, once she feels safe she is extremely loving, enjoys close contact and seeks reassurance from those she trusts. She loves cuddles, gentle scratches, and being near her humans, and is very in tune with their emotions, often offering comfort when someone is feeling down. River is a clever and enthusiastic learner who already knows a wide range of cues and enjoys training, enrichment and mental stimulation. She loves her toys, especially balls and tug toys, enjoys scent games such as “find it”, and is very food-motivated, peanut butter is her absolute favourite! She settles well at home, enjoys routine and structure, and is clean and non-destructive. River enjoys her walks and would suit an active home with access to quieter walking routes. She walks nicely on a halti and enjoys being out and about, but can find busy environments overwhelming and may be reactive to dogs, vans or motorbikes when anxious. She will need confident handling and continued training, and should remain on lead unless in a secure area. Although affectionate and loving, River is a sensitive dog and can struggle with unfamiliar people, visitors and loud or sudden noises such as fireworks. When frightened she may bark or retreat. For this reason, River is looking for a calm, quiet, adult-only home with very few visitors, ideally in a rural or semi-rural setting. Her adopters must be experienced with reactive dogs, patient, and willing to work at her pace while respecting her boundaries. We are advised that River can occasionally display guarding behaviours towards her trusted humans, such as growling if another person enters the room while she is settled. This will need calm, confident and experienced management. River is currently looking for a home as an only dog, although she has previously lived with another small dog and may be able to live with a calm companion following careful introductions. River may not be suited to everyone, but for the right home she will be an incredibly loyal, affectionate and rewarding companion who has so much love to give.
