Fortunatamente, Stanley è entrato in cura da Safe Rescue 4 anni fa da un rifugio rumeno. Era stato molto perseguitato nel rifugio e era molto magro a causa degli altri cani che non gli permettevano di mangiare. Ora sta cercando una persona molto speciale che gli offra la casa perfetta che merita. Stanley è un incrocio di piccole e medie dimensioni, probabilmente intorno ai 9 anni e vive in un ambiente di accoglienza a Royston, Hertfordshire. Si può dire con certezza che Stanley non è mai stato un "amico delle persone". Dopo anni di sofferenze causati dagli umani, è comprensibile, e così è andato avanti per 4 anni ricevendo da mangiare e mostrando nessun ringraziamento ma solo sguardi sporchi. Tuttavia, ciò che contava era che fosse fuori dal rifugio e felice e al sicuro nella sua casa di accoglienza. Durante il suo soggiorno, Stanley non è mai stato un problema. Si fonde quasi sempre nel retrogrondo. Accetterà di essere lavato e pettinato senza lamentarsi quando necessario. Non ha mai mostrato segni di voler interagire ulteriormente. Recentemente però, la persona che lo accoglie ha notato un cambiamento in lui e addirittura afferma che quasi si dimenticò di se stesso e apprezzò una pulizia e un'attenzione. Posò la testa sulle sue gambe e si addormentò, mostrando che in realtà è ormai anziano e merita un ambiente più tranquillo e rilassato per il suo ritiro. Potrebbe ancora essere un caso in cui quello che puoi fare per Stanley e non l'amore che lui ti darà, ma forse in un ambiente più personalizzato può essere di più che un cane che si fonde nel retrogrondo. Per il momento, i premi saranno offrendo conforto e pace a un vecchio leale che vuole solo usarti per il cibo. Stanley ha bisogno di un altro cane in casa e può essere giocoso quando pensa che nessuno guardi. Non ha problemi con i gatti. È stato in un ambiente di accoglienza con bambini di 8 anni o più; li ignora e loro lo ignorano e questa situazione va bene per tutti. Farà passeggiate e le apprezzrà inizialmente ma diventerà aggressivo dopo circa venti minuti, specialmente se si sceglie una direzione che non gli piace. Purtroppo, si può vedere nei suoi occhi che ha visto e subìto molto più di quanto dovrebbe un cane, e quindi non deve essere giudicato per il suo atteggiamento distaccato verso gli umani. Durante le sessioni di toeletta, ci sono molte cicatrici nascoste dalla sua folta pelliccia. Si prega di notare che Safe Rescue ha una politica per cui tutti i cani adottati da loro devono indossare un guinzaglio a scivolo durante le passeggiate. Luckily, Stanley came into the care of Safe Rescue 4 years ago from a Romanian shelter. He had been extremely picked on in the shelter and was very underweight due to other dogs not allowing him to eat. He's now looking for a very special kind of person to offer him the perfect home he deserves. Stanley is a small to medium-sized Crossbreed, probably around 9 years old and living in a foster home in Royston, Hertfordshire. It’s fair to say that Stanley has not really been a “people person”. After years of hardship at the hands of humans, it's understandable, and so he's been ticking along for 4 years being fed and showing no gratitude but dirty looks. All that mattered, however, was that he was out of the shelter and happy and safe in his foster home. For the duration of his stay, Stanley has really not been any trouble at all. He blends into the background for the most part. He will tolerate being bathed and groomed without a fuss when needed. He’s just never really shown any sign of wanting any further interaction. Recently though, Stanley's foster carer has felt a change in him and would even go as far as to say that he almost forgot himself and enjoyed a groom and a fuss. He rested his head on her knee and dozed off, showing that actually he’s really a senior now and he deserves a quieter and more relaxed environment for his retirement. It is still potentially going to be a case of what you can do for Stanley and not what love he’s going to give back to you, but just maybe in a more one-to-one environment he can be more than a “blend into the background” dog. In the meantime, rewards will be from offering comfort and peace to a stoic old boy who just wants to use you for food. Stanley needs another dog in residence and can be playful when he thinks nobody is looking. He has no issues with cats. He has been in a foster home with children of 8 plus; he ignores them and they ignore him and that situation works for all involved. He will go for walks and enjoys them initially but gets belligerent after about twenty minutes, especially if you opt to go in a direction which displeases him. Sadly, you can see in his eyes that he’s seen and endured way more than any dog should, and he should therefore not be judged for his standoffish approach to humans. During grooming sessions, there are many scars hidden by his thick coat. Please note – Safe Rescue have a policy that all dogs adopted from them must wear a slip lead on walks. Please only enquire about Safe Rescue dogs if you are happy to always use a slip lead – extendable leads are not acceptable to Safe Rescue. All dogs have to be collected and a crate must be used.
