April – another little dog returned from adoption… The first days for April were VERY difficult, she was scared and didn't want to let us near her. It took several days until she finally let us near her and gave us a chance. April is a young, cheerful and active female dog who has made great progress during her stay at the shelter. From a sensitive and cautious puppy she has become a classic friendly female dog who enjoys every day and likes to be with people. She has adapted to the new environment and handles contact with new people well – she has already been on walks and was happy and cheerful. She is affectionate, kind, likes attention and enjoys being scratched. She loves toys, fetches them nicely and enjoys playing with knots. April is trainable, will do anything for a treat, and responds beautifully to calls. She is a smart and curious companion who would be an excellent companion for walks, play and relaxation. She gets along well with dogs and female dogs – during introduction she can be cautious, but quickly becomes brave and then likes to play. Handling is trouble-free. She has good hygiene habits, behaves politely and doesn't destroy things. April is suitable for an owner with some experience who can give her clear and loving guidance. She is looking for a home ideally in a house with access to the yard, with a well-fenced yard and a heated kennel, but she would also adapt to living in an apartment. April is a female dog who has gained confidence and has become a cheerful and lovely companion. She just needs her own family now, who will provide her with a permanent home. HEALTH STATUS: April underwent an orthopedic examination at UVLf clinic with Mr. MVDr. Hluchý. We copy the medical report text: • Diagnosis: bilateral coxarthrosis • Clinical findings: the dog very weakly flexes on the left hip, there is thickening in the area of the hip on the left side, palpation of the front limbs without swelling, full range of motion in all joints without pain, hind limbs knees stable without swelling, hip joints on the right side can be extended and on the left side extension is limited, pressure on the joints of the thoracic and lumbar spine without pain, abdominal cavity soft consistency without pain. X-ray pelvis in extended position: left hind limb cannot be fully extended, so the position is insufficiently stretched and the pelvis is rotated, strong arthrosis present on the hip joints on the right side, the head has a conical shape, it is in the acetabulum, the neck is thickened, on the left side the acetabulum is shallow, the head has a deformed shape, the neck of the femur is thickened. • Treatment: MVDr. Hluchý treatment can be conservative, weight control, anti-inflammatory drugs if there is pain, nutritional supplements (with MSM, or omega 3), physiotherapy. In case of severe chronic pain, a procedure can be done to remove the source of pain by removing the head and neck of the femur (however, this procedure aims only to remove the contact between the bones and thus eliminate the pain, the functionality of the joint cannot be restored as the joint is no longer there and the connection between the pelvis and the femur is through muscles) – the procedure is well tolerated and the limb is used in small dog breeds, however, in large dog breeds there is a problem that there is a permanent abnormality in using the limb and in dogs with smaller gluteal muscle volume this joint has nothing to stabilize. Full recovery of joint function in this case is possible only by total replacement of the hip joint (however, also associated with the possibility of complications, as with any surgical procedure).

April – ďalšia psia dušička vrátená z adopcie… Prvé dni pre April boli VEĽMI náročné, bola vystrašená a nechcela nás k sebe pustiť. Trvalo niekoľko dní pokiaľ nás k sebe vôbec pustila a dala nám šancu. April je mladá, veselá a aktívna fenočka, ktorá urobila za svoj pobyt v útulku veľký pokrok. Z kedysi citlivej a opatrnej fenočy je dnes klasická priateľská fenka, ktorá sa teší z každého dňa a vie si užívať spoločnosť ľudí. Na nové prostredie si zvykla a dobre zvláda aj kontakt s novými ľuďmi – bola už aj na venčeniach a bola spokojná a veselá. Je prítulná, milá, má rada pozornosť a nechá sa s radosťou škrabkať. Hračky zbožňuje, pekne aportuje a rada sa naťahuje o uzle. April je učenlivá, za pamlsok urobí všetko, čo pozná, a krásne reaguje na privolanie. Je to šikovná a zvedavá parťáčka, ktorá bude výbornou spoločnosťou na prechádzkach, hrách aj oddychu. So psami a fenkami vychádza dobre – pri zoznamovaní môže byť opatrná, ale rýchlo sa osmelí a potom sa rada pohrá. Manipulácia je bezproblémová. Má hygienické návyky, dnu sa správa slušne a veci neničí. April je vhodná aj pre mierne skúsenejšieho majiteľa, ktorý jej dá jasné a láskavé vedenie. Domov si hľadá ideálne v domčeku s prístupom dnu, s dobre oploteným pozemkom a zateplenou búdkou, no zvykla by si aj na život v byte. April je sučka, ktorá už nabrala sebavedomie a zmenila sa na veselú a milú spoločníčku. Teraz potrebuje už len svoju vlastnú rodinu, ktorá jej poskytne domov natrvalo. ZDRAVOTNÝ STAV: April absolvovala ortopedické vyšetrenie na klinike UVLf u pána MVDr. Hluchého. Kopírujeme text lekárskej správy: •Diagnóza: obojstranná koxartróza •Klinický nález: pes velmi slabo kríva na LPK je prítomné zhrubnutie v oblasti bedra na ľavej strane, palpačne hrudníkové končatiny bez opuchu plný rozsah pohybu na všetkých kĺboch bez bolesti, panvové končatiny kolená stabilné bez opuchu bedrové kíby na pravej strane sa dá dať do extenzie a na ľavej strane je obmedzená extenzia tlak na spoje stavcov hrudná a drieková chrbtica bez bolesti dutina brušná mäkkej konzistencie bez bolesti. RTG panva VD extenzaná poloha ľavá panvová končatina sa nedá vytiahnúť plne tak je poloha nedostatočne natiahnutá a panva zrotovaná, prítomná silná artróza na bedrových kĺboch na pravej strane hlavica má kuželovitý tvar je v acetábule krčok zhrubnutý, na ľavej strane acetábulum plytké hlavica má zdeformovaný tvar krčok stehnovej kosti zhrubnutý. •Terapia: MVDr. Hluchý terapia môže byt konzervatívna, konrola telesnej hmotnosti, protizápalové lieky v prípade bolesti, výživové doplnky (s MSM, alebo omega 3) fyzioterapia. V prípade núdze pri silných chronických bolestiach sa dá urobiť zákrok na odstránenie zdroja bolesti odrezania hlavice a krčku stehnovej kosti (ovšem tento zákrok ma za úlohu len odstrániť kontakt medzi kosťami a tým eliminovať bolesť, nedá sa obnoviť funkčnosť kĺbu lebo kĺb tam už potom nie je a spojenie pánvy a stehnovej kosti je prostredníctvom svalov) – zákrok je dobre tolerovaný a končatina je používana u malých plemien psov u veľkých plemien psov je problém že je tam pritomná premanentna abnormalita používania končatiny a u psov s menším objemom gluteálnych svalov ten kĺb nemá čo stabilizovať. Plné obnovenie funkčnosti kÍbu v takomnto prípade je možné len totálnou náhradou bedrového kĺbu ( ovšem spojené takisto ako každý operačný zákrok s možnostou vzniku komplikácii).
