Dustin è un meraviglioso German Shorthaired Pointer che ci è arrivato da un allevatore in Irlanda. Questo ragazzone è pieno di energia e adora niente di più che correre e divertirsi. È un ragazzo forte, sia nel fisico che nel carattere, quindi avrà bisogno di un padrone altrettanto forte ma dolce che possa guidarlo con gentilezza e aiutarlo a imparare un po' di buone maniere. Adora stare vicino ai suoi umani e non vuole mai allontanarsi da te. Stiamo aiutandolo a capire come tenere tutte e quattro le zampe a terra invece di appoggiarsi o "abbracciare" le gambe. Qui al rifugio Dustin preferisce la sua compagnia e sarebbe molto più felice vivendo come unico cane in casa, dove può godersi tutto l'amore e l'attenzione per sé. Potrebbe essere adottato da adolescenti esperti con i cani. Come molti cani che ci raggiungono, Dustin non ha mai vissuto in una casa prima, quindi avrà bisogno di adottatori pazienti per aiutarlo a imparare tutto sul lavaggio in casa e le routine quotidiane della vita domestica. Sapeva già camminare con il guinzaglio, anche se la sua forza significa che avrà bisogno di pratica e costanza nella sua nuova area prima che sia pronto per grandi avventure. Sta attualmente imparando a camminare con un halti per aiutarlo a smettere di tirare. Dustin è un ragazzo attivo che prospererà in una casa altrettanto attiva, una che possa dargli tanto tempo di gioco, lunghe passeggiate e nuove avventure da gustare. È sempre entusiasta di vedere le persone, come si può vedere dalle sue foto, con la sua lingua super lunga! Dustin è un cane meraviglioso e allegro che aspetta solo una famiglia in grado di corrispondere alla sua voglia di vivere. Con la casa giusta, farà un compagno energico, fedele e amorevole. Dustin ha visitato il nostro veterinario, che ha notato che ha una zampa leggermente abdotta con le gambe divaricate, questo non influisce affatto sulla sua mobilità, ma gli adottatori dovranno monitorare questa situazione in futuro, poiché potrebbe essere un segno di displasia dell'anca in futuro. Attualmente sta provando alcuni farmaci per il dolore per vedere se questo lo aiuta. Gli adottatori devono sapere che qualsiasi cosa riguardante ciò non sarà coperta dall'assicurazione. Dustin is a stunning German Shorthaired Pointer who has come to us from a breeder in Ireland. This handsome boy is bursting with energy and adores nothing more than zooming around and having fun. He is a strong lad, both in build and personality, so he will need an equally strong but gentle handler who can guide him with kindness and help teach him some manners. He adores being close to his humans and never wants to leave your side. We are helping him understand how to keep all four paws on the floor instead of leaning or “hugging” legs. Here at the rescue, Dustin prefers his own company and would be much happier living as the only dog in the home, where he can soak up all the love and attention for himself. He could be homed with dog savvy teenagers. Like many dogs who come to us, Dustin has never lived in a home before, so he will need patient adopters to help him learn all about house training and the everyday routines of home life. He can already walk on a lead, though his strength means he’ll need some practice and consistency in his new area before he’s ready to head off on big adventures. He is currently learning to walk on a halti to help with his pulling. Dustin is an active boy who would thrive in an equally active household, one that can give him plenty of playtime, long walks, and new adventures to enjoy. He is always thrilled to see people, as you can see from his pictures, with his super-long tongue! Dustin is a wonderful, cheerful dog who is just waiting for a family who can match his zest for life. With the right home, he will make an energetic, loyal, and loving companion. Dustin has visited our vet, who noted that he has a slightly abducted gait with splayed back legs, this doesn't effect his mobility at all, but his adopters would need to monitor this in the future as it could be a sign of developing hip dysplasia further down the road. He is currently trialing some pain killers to see if this helps him. His adopters would need to be aware that anything regarding this would not be covered by insurance. He was also presented with lameness of the right forelimb that is being monitored. He has a travel document.
