Background Hazel è stata salvata come piccola cucciola pelosa e purtroppo ha aspettato così tanto per trovare una casa che ha trascorso tutta la sua giovinezza in un canile macedone. Quando è finalmente stata adottata, non è andata bene e ha sviluppato reattività basata sulle paure. Ma è stata fortunata quando un'adeguata famiglia di accoglienza si è presentata per lei e con il loro addestramento esperto e dedicato ha fatto grandi progressi. Il lavoro con Hazel continua, ma ora è pronta per la sua casa definitiva. Carattere e bisogni Hazel si è trasformata da una ragazza timida in una personalità molto vivace che ama correre per la casa con i suoi giochi. Le serve tempo per riscaldarsi verso le persone, ma una volta che ti conosce, sarà la tua migliore amica. È fedele, amorevole e estremamente intelligente. Adora i coccoloni e ha una personalità birichina e giocosa. È molto ubbidiente e ha imparato tanti trucchi che è ansiosa di mostrare. Essendo un cane pastore tipico, ama inseguire e protegge istintivamente la sua casa. Si lega fortemente alla sua "persona speciale", quindi diventa preoccupata se lasciata sola per troppo tempo. Questa splendida ragazza è un cane grande e attivo e necessita di circa due ore di passeggiate (o equivalente di attività) al giorno, e sessioni regolari di addestramento per tenere attiva la sua mente. Può convivere con un cane residente, purché sia molto sicuro e amichevole, poiché le presentazioni possono essere difficili. Anche se Hazel ha ottenuto molti progressi nella sua reattività, può ancora essere nervosa intorno agli estranei e viene scatenata dal contatto visivo con persone che non conosce. È abbastanza reattiva verso cani che non conosce, ma diventa molto amichevole e giocosa con loro dopo alcuni incontri lenti e attenti. Casa ideale La casa ideale per Hazel è un ambiente tranquillo con adulti esperti che le forniranno l'addestramento necessario per acquisire sempre più fiducia nel mondo. Deve esserci un giardino di buone dimensioni e sicuro in modo che possa godersi l'esterno quando il tempo è bello, e la posizione non deve essere troppo urbana e deve avere aree tranquille e buone per le passeggiate vicino. Background Hazel was rescued as a little fluffy puppy and sadly waited so long for a home that she spent her entire youth in Macedonian kennel. When she finally was adopted, it didn’t go well and she developed fear based reactivity. But she was lucky the perfect foster home came forward for her and with their experienced and dedicated training she has made huge development. The work with Hazel is still ongoing, but she is now ready for her forever home. Character and needs Hazel has developed from a shy girl into a big personality who loves running around the house with her toys. She takes time to warm up to people, but once she gets to know you, she will be your best friend. She is loyal, loving and extremely intelligent. She loves cuddles and has a cheeky, playful personality. She is very obedient, and has learnt a lot of tricks which she is eager to show off. Being a typical shepherd dog, she loves to herd and instinctively protects her home. She bonds incredibly strongly with her ‘special person’, so becomes worried when left alone for too long. This stunning girl is a large active dog and needs around two hours of walking (or equivalent exercise) a day, and regular training sessions to keep her mentally stimulated. She can live with a resident dog as long as they’re very confident and friendly as introductions can be a challenge. Although Hazel has made loads of progress with her reactivity she can still be nervous around strangers, and she is triggered by eye contact with people she doesn’t know. She is quite reactive towards dogs she doesn’t know, but becomes very friendly and playful with them after a few slow, careful meetings. Ideal Home The ideal home for Hazel is a calm adults only home with experienced people who will give her the training she needs to continue gaining confidence in the world. There must be a good size secure garden so she can enjoy being outside when weather is nice, and the location should not be too urban and have good, quiet walking areas nearby. Hazel can be potential bite risk in high-stress situations (most commonly when strange dogs are too close), so she needs a physically fit handler. She also may regress in new surroundings, so it’s crucial that her adopter has experience with proper handling of reactivity. Meeting her a couple of times will be recommended so she can get to know her new family before moving again. In the right hands, this beautiful girl has the potential to be the perfect dog!
