Choco's Reis: Overwinnen van Angst en Zoeken naar een Eeuwige Thuis Choco heeft een moeilijke start in het leven gehad, hij kwam ongeveer een paar maanden geleden met zijn vriendjes Nieve en Turron in de verzorgingsinstelling. Hij draagt de tekenen van zijn moeilijke verleden, zowel zichtbare lichamelijke littekens als de minder opvallende mentale. De trauma's die hij heeft doorlopen hebben hem zeer terughoudend gemaakt; Choco is te bang om zijn kooi te verlaten en heeft nog niet de moed gevonden om voedsel van de vrijwilligers aan te nemen die geduldig bij hem zitten. Hoewel hij voor voedsel kan aankomen, trekt hij zich terug bij elke plotselinge beweging, een duidelijk teken van zijn blijvende angst. In het hart is Choco een zachtaardige ziel die iemand nodig heeft die tijd en geduld wil investeren om hem te helpen leren dat niet alle mensen onvriendelijk zijn. Met de juiste zorg en liefde kan Choco beginnen te genezen en weer te vertrouwen. Omdat Choco nooit zijn kooi verlaat uit angst, wordt hij vaak over het hoofd gezien voor adoptie. Toch heeft Choco precies wat hij nodig heeft om zijn zelfvertrouwen te herwinnen, namelijk een thuis buiten de verzorgingsinstelling. Met een liefhebbende eigenaar zou Choco de kans krijgen om zijn kleine betonkooi te verlaten, wandelingen te maken en geleidelijk zijn echte persoonlijkheid laten zien.

The saddest dogs are often the ones who make the least noise… Meet Choco, a medium-sized mixed breed whose world has taught him that people aren’t always kind. When Choco arrived at the shelter with his friends, Nieve and Turron, he brought more than just the scars you can see. The ones hidden inside run much deeper. Every day, Choco watches the world from the safety of his kennel. He’s simply too frightened to step outside. Our volunteers sit quietly with him, offering treats and gentle words. Sometimes he’ll creep forward… but the slightest movement sends him rushing back to the only place he feels safe. Imagine living every day believing the world is something to fear. The cruel irony is that because Choco never leaves his kennel, he is so often overlooked. People walk past, assuming he has nothing to offer. But we know better. We know there’s a gentle, loving dog hidden behind those frightened eyes. A dog who has never really been given the chance to discover what it feels like to be loved, to go for a walk, to curl up in a warm bed, or to trust that tomorrow will be kinder than yesterday. Choco doesn’t need someone looking for the “perfect” dog. He needs someone willing to be his person. Someone with patience, kindness and a heart big enough to help him believe that humans can be safe. Yes, Choco has tested positive for Leishmania, but this condition can often be successfully managed, and he deserves the chance to live the life every dog should have. Please don’t let Choco spend another day watching life pass him by from behind kennel bars. Could you be the person who finally changes his story?
