Dexter & Dee Dee came to the shelter as babies, after they were caught together with their mother Willow, living in the nature, and visiting a country house for occasional food. Their mother is a Podenco, or at least this is what we think - that Willow is their mother, and the father is unknown, but from their size and looks, he will be a medium/large size mixed breed. When they first arrived, they were extremely shy and very scared, hiding themselves behind furniture and avoiding any eye contact. When touched, they would pee themselves.... But things started changing when the mother, Willow, started to gain trust and love for the human caretakers, then they started to get curious as well. That was an important step, because the mother had to be separated from the puppies for an important eye surgery, after which she had to stay in the clinic area for safe recovery, so by that time, the puppies had to already trust the caretakers, and they did! Soon after, Dexter & Dee Dee were lucky to go to a wonderful foster home, and they have absolutely changed ever since - no more fears, no more shyness, they are now individuals with their own characters and ready for their forever homes! Dexter is a bit lighter in color, and he is the mama's boy. He loves human closeness, and when there is a human nearby, he will always be next to them, cuddling and being in physical contact. He builds a stronger connection to humans and becomes dependent on them for affection, even when other dogs are around. Once he has his large dosis of love from humans, then he goes to play and cuddle with other dogs or especially his sister Dee Dee. Dexter also loves to splish-splash in the water, and then can relax calmly also by himself, finding something to nibble on or something to investigate. He loves to eat, and so does Dee Dee. Dee Dee is very quick to learn, she is the one from the siblings who would like to do exercises with you, little tricks trainings, learn new things. At the same time, she can be a bit shy with new people, first being curious and coming to check you out, but needing longer to trust you and to feel relaxed around you, but once she knows you, she is connected to you. She loves to play with humans and with other dogs, also she enjoys the water, and can keep herself occupied with toys, snacks, sticks. Both Dexter & Dee Dee are looking for homes with an adult, social, balanced dog already present in the home, so when they are going through changes and adjustments in a new life, they have a rolemodel and supporting shoulder to lean on. If an excellent opportunity should arise, where they could be adopted together and safely grow up together, we will of course consider, but most likely and preferably, they would both find their individual forever homes.
