Fanta adopteren

Fanta is een jonge vrouwelijke hond, mooi en slank, met een wolkig vachtmantel en honingkleurige ogen. Maar Fanta is ook bang. We weten niet wat er in haar leven gebeurd is dat haar tot deze onzeker, angstige kleine wezen heeft gemaakt die wegloopt bij de gedachte alleen al dat iemand naar haar toe komt. Ze draagt deze tegenstrijdigheid binnen zich. Je ziet haar en wil haar oprapen, strelen, met haar spelen, maar haar hele lichaam zegt van verre "nee". In het laatste tijdstip is echter iets begonnen te veranderen in het dierenasiel. Misschien is het de geduldige aanpak van de mensen die voor haar zorgen. Misschien is het omdat ze kijkt hoe andere honden omgaan met mensen. Fanta begint zachter te worden. Ze komt dichterbij voor een lekkernij, mits deze rustig wordt aangeboden, zonder plotselinge bewegingen of luide stemmen. Ze heeft nog veel weg te gaan, maar wij die haar kennen kunnen nu zeggen dat er echt hoop is. Hopelijk zal ze kunnen overwinnen wat haar afgesloten houdt en eindelijk zorg en aanraking accepteren. Fanta heeft het potentieel om een gelukkende maat te worden. Wat ze nodig heeft is een persoon die dat potentieel in haar kan zien. Iemand geduldig en consequent, bereid om de richtlijnen van een trainer te volgen die ervaring heeft met angstige honden. Het zou helpen als ze samenwoonde met een andere hond, een die ze kon observeren en leren van. Een rustig thuis zou haar het beste passen, zonder spanning, snel oplosseende routine of een lawaaiig buurtje vol constante stimulansen. Fanta zal misschien nooit de uitbundige hond worden die haar staart bij iedereen die ze ontmoet. Maar ze kan een rustige, veilige leven naast iemand leiden die haar vertrouwen verdient.

Fanta is a young female dog, beautiful and slender, with a fluffy coat and honey colored eyes. But Fanta is also fearful. We cannot know what happened in her life that turned her into this insecure, frightened little being who would run away at the mere thought of someone approaching her. She carries this contradiction within her. You see her and want to scoop her up, stroke her, play with her, yet her whole body, from a distance, is saying “no.” Lately, though, something has begun to shift at the shelter. Perhaps it is the steady patience of the people who care for her. Perhaps it is because she watches the way the other dogs interact with humans. Fanta is starting to soften. She will come closer for a treat, as long as it is offered calmly, without sudden movements or raised voices. She still has a long way to go, but those of us who know her can now say that there is real hope. Hope that she will overcome what keeps her closed off and finally accept care and touch. Fanta has the potential to become a happy companion. What she needs is a person who can see that potential in her. Someone patient and consistent, willing to follow the guidance of a trainer experienced with fearful dogs. It might help if she lived with another dog, one she could observe and learn from. A quiet home would suit her best, without tension, fast paced routines, or a noisy neighborhood full of constant stimuli. Fanta may never become the exuberant dog who wags her tail at everyone she meets. But she can live a peaceful, safe life beside someone who earns her trust.
