Maciek is an exceptional dog in every way. Beautiful, smart, and excels at reading other dogs' signals. He is also exceptional because he endured human cruelty but managed to trust. He arrived at our shelter in July 2025 with a large head wound that has not yet grown fur. He was very distrustful, distancing himself from people, avoiding their presence. However, he closely observed other dogs and their interactions with humans, and over time, he began approaching volunteers, mainly for the wonderful treats that magically appeared in their hands. Macius is a very curious dog, so he started peeking into the shelter kitchen to see what was going on, and eventually, he would enter to check out what was chirping in the grass. Seeing the people who regularly spent time with him, he began to joyfully allow them more closeness, and human touch was no longer unpleasant. However, to this day, Maciek does not appreciate being touched around his head, but he boldly offers his bottom for scratching and clearly enjoys it. There came a day when Macius first allowed a collar to be put on, then a leash. He also allowed being leashed, but the external world was too scary to venture out. We patiently tried to show him the world beyond the shelter grounds. At first, there were no spectacular successes: reaching the gate and returning under the fence, then going out the gate, walking a few meters, and returning to the animal shelter. But with each week, Maciek found himself further away from the animal shelter, until he finally went on a regular walk. Maćka is stressed by street traffic: cars, engines, bicycles. She is afraid of the sound of a quad, the sound of a saw, and anything loud is scary. Only when Maciek finds himself in a quiet forest does he fully enjoy the walk. He sniffs a lot, peeks into every patch of grass, and leaves marks for other doggy friends. Maciek is a large and strong dog, and sometimes he gets drawn to the most interesting direction. Fortunately, it’s not another dog! Maciek is wonderful in direct interactions with both dogs and puppies; those behind the fence pass by very calmly, and he does not lunge at passing people. In the case of new acquaintances, Maciek is distrustful. That’s why we are looking for a home ready to build a relationship with him, someone who will allow Maciek to love them and take them home.

Maciek to wyjątkowy w każdym calu pies. Piękny, mądry, znakomicie czytający sygnały innych psów. Wyjątkowy również z tego powodu, że doznał od ludzi krzywdy, a potrafił zaufać. Trafił do schroniska w lipcu 2025 roku z dużą raną na głowie, która do teraz nie zarosła futerkiem. Był bardzo nieufny, odstraszał ludzi od siebie, stronił od ich obecności. Bacznie jednak obserwował inne psy i ich relacje z ludźmi, a z czasem sam zaczął podchodzić do wolontariuszy, głównie po pyszne kąski, które magicznie pojawiały się w ich rękach. Maciuś jest psem bardzo ciekawskim, więc za znajomymi osobami zaczął zaglądać do schroniskowej kuchni, z czasem wchodzić do niej, żeby sprawdzić co w trawie piszczy. Na widok osób, które regularnie spędzały z nim czas, zaczął niesamowicie się cieszyć, pozwalać im na więcej. Ludzki dotyk przestał być nieprzyjemny. Do dziś jednak Maciek nie przepada za dotykaniem w okolicach głowy, zadek jednak śmiało wystawia do drapania i ewidentnie czerpie z tego przyjemność. Przyszedł również dzień, w którym najpierw Maciuś pozwolił założyć sobie obrożę, potem szelki. Pozwolił również przypiąć smycz, ale zewnętrzny świat był zbyt straszny, aby do niego wyjść. Cierpliwie próbowaliśmy pokazać mu świat poza schroniskowymi podwórkami. Początkowo bez spektakularnych sukcesów: dojście do bramy i powrót pod furtkę, z czasem wyjście za bramę, przejście kilku metrów, powrót do schroniska. Ale z każdym tygodniem Maciek znajdował się coraz dalej schroniska, aż w końcu wyszedł na regularny spacer. Maćka stresuje ruch uliczny: auta, motory, rowery. Boi się odgłosów quada, dźwięku piły, wszystko co głośne jest straszne. Dopiero gdy Maciek znajdzie się w cichym lesie zaczyna korzystać ze spaceru. Dużo wącha, zagląda we wszystkie kępy traw, zostawia znaki dla innych psich kolegów. Maciek jest sporym i silnym psem, zdarza się mu jednak pociągnąć w tę stronę, która jest akurat najbardziej interesująca. Szczęśliwie nie są to inne psy! Maciek jest cudowny w bezpośrednich relacjach zarówno z psami jak i suczkami, te które są za ogrodzeniem mija bardzo spokojnie, do przechodzących obok nie wyrywa się. W stosunku do nowo poznawanych osób Maciek jest nieufny. Dlatego szukamy dla niego domu gotowego na budowanie relacji, kogoś kto pozwoli aby Maciek go polubił i pozwolił zabrać do domu.
