Meet Millan This beautiful boy has spent almost his entire life in the shelter. Millan originally lived in “the park” with four other dogs. One by one, each of his friends was adopted, leaving him behind. Why? Because Millan is incredibly shy and wary of people. He has also been diagnosed with leishmania, and having never known life outside the park, even the sight of a lead was terrifying to him. We could never get close enough to put one on him. For a long time, progress was slow. We worked patiently to build trust, and eventually he would come close enough to take food from volunteers — but those moments were brief and fragile. Then everything changed. When his last park companion was adopted, it was finally time for Millan to leave the park too. It wasn’t easy, and it certainly wasn’t pretty, but it was necessary for his future. Now he shares a kennel with the lovely Chloe — a confident, affectionate dog who has completely taken him under her paw And something amazing has happened… After months of patience, kindness, and dedication from our volunteers, Millan achieved what once felt impossible: His first walk. Then a second. Then a third. He is still nervous when the lead goes on, but every single day he grows braver. Slowly, fear is being replaced with trust. This is the beginning of a whole new chapter for Millan — a chance to finally find the loving, understanding home he deserves.
