The story of Rufus began on the streets. He arrived at the animal shelter as a puppy, just three or four months old, along with his sisters Cota and Bell. As the offspring of a very wary stray dog, Rufus grew with those survival genes burned into his DNA: a strong lack of trust in humans and marked socialization issues. Today, Rufus has grown and made a decision: the animal shelter, with its routines, its open spaces, and its pack, is his true home. A pack soul: Rufus is a dog of dogs. He relates wonderfully to his canine companions, finding in the group the security that humans still elicit a sense of caution in him. Respect for his space: Although he remains very reserved and avoids physical contact with people, Rufus is not an unhappy dog. He simply chose to live on his own terms, feeling protected alongside his sisters.
