Aardige Sookie kwam in de zorg van Dogs Friends in maart 2025 als onderdeel van een moeder-dochterpaar. Na een jaar van proberen om een thuis te vinden samen, is besloten om haar aparte huizen te zoeken. Vanwege het feit dat ze zo lang een paar zijn geweest, zal haar nieuwe huis een beetje bijzonder moeten zijn. Voorlopig is ze in pleegzorg in Weston-super-Mare. Sookie is een Chihuahua en bijna 8 jaar oud (geboren april 2018). Ze is ongelooflijk lief en voelt duidelijk veel emotie, maar wil graag behagen. Haar wens om te behagen maakt haar zeer opvangbaar voor oefening. Ze verlangt naar aandacht en knuffels en durft dit duidelijk te laten merken als het tijd is voor strelingen. Als ze klaar is en echt gelukkig is, houdt Sookie er niets meer van dan een speelgoed te pakken en speeltijd in te leiden. Zodra Sookie je in haar cirkel heeft geaccepteerd, is ze zeer mensengericht en fel trouw. Omdat ze gewend is aan het lichaam van haar moeder, Piper, heeft Sookie een thuis nodig waar iemand meestal aanwezig is, vooral tijdens haar inpassingsperiode. Sookie zoekt een huis zonder dieren en alleen voor volwassenen met een gezin dat zich verplicht voelt aan haar voortdurende opleiding. Ze is reagerend op andere honden, maar werkt hieraan met de betrouwbare gedragstherapeuten van de Rescue en wordt verwacht met voortdurende opleiding te kunnen slagen. Sookie heeft een jachtdrift en kan niet met katten, vogels of andere kleine dieren delen. Hoewel ze een Chihuahua is, is ze erg "springy" en heeft ze een veilig tuin met 6 voet hek nodig! Sookie is over het algemeen in goede gezondheid. Ze heeft een gevoelige maag die wordt beheerd met een consistente dieet van één eiwit. Let op: het heropvoeden gebied van Dogs Friends is Somerset en de omringende regio's (zoals Bristol, Bath, Weston Super Mare en Wiltshire). Cute Sookie came into the care of Dogs Friends in March 2025 as part of a mother-daughter pair. After a year of trying to find a home together, it has been decided to try to find them separate homes. Due to being a pair for so long, her new home will need to be a little special. Meantime, she is in foster care in Weston-super-Mare. Sookie is a Chihuahua and is 8 years old (born April 2018). She is incredibly sweet and clearly feels a lot of emotion but seeks to please. Her eagerness to please makes her very receptive to training. She craves attention and cuddles and isn’t shy to show you when it’s time for strokes. When she’s ready and really happy, Sookie loves nothing more than grabbing a toy and initiating play time. Once Sookie has welcomed you into her circle, she is incredibly people-oriented and fiercely loyal. Because she is used to having her mother, Piper, by her side, Sookie ideally needs a home where someone is around most of the time, particularly during her settling-in period. Sookie is looking for a pet-free, adult-only home with a family committed to her ongoing training. She is dog reactive, but she has been working on this with the Rescue's trusted behaviourists and expected to thrive with ongoing training. Sookie has a prey drive and cannot share her home with cats, birds or other small animals. Despite being a Chihuahua, she is very “springy” and requires a secure garden with 6ft fencing! Sookie is generally in good health. She has a sensitive stomach managed with a consistent diet of single protein.
