Blackie is a five-year-old tomcat with a name that sounds more formidable than he looks. Despite what you might expect, he’s not entirely black: his white whiskers, belly, and paws give him a rather distinguished gentlemanly air. In the animal shelter, Blackie has already mapped out all the strategic hiding spots. Not because he’s uninterested, far from it. He finds the world around him incredibly fascinating. Only his caution wins out over his curiosity. He observes, thinks, shifts a paw forward… and decides that today is not the day for grand social experiments. We’re looking for a person with patience for Blackie, and not the kind of patience you develop while waiting in line at the supermarket, but the real deal. Blackie is een vijfjarige kater met een naam die stoerder klinkt dan hij eruitziet. Ondanks wat je misschien verwacht, is hij namelijk niet volledig zwart: zijn witte snor, bef en pootjes geven hem een bijna distinguished gentleman-uitstraling. In het asiel heeft Blackie inmiddels alle strategische schuilplekken in kaart gebracht. Niet omdat hij ongeïnteresseerd is, integendeel. Hij vindt de wereld om hem heen ontzettend boeiend. Alleen wint zijn voorzichtigheid het nog van zijn nieuwsgierigheid. Hij observeert, denkt na, schuift een pootje naar voren… en besluit dan toch dat vandaag niet de dag is voor grote sociale experimenten. Voor Blackie zoeken we een mens met geduld, en dan niet het soort geduld dat je opbrengt in de rij bij de supermarkt, maar het échte werk. Iemand die begrijpt dat vertrouwen groeit in millimeters, niet in meters.
