Cats listed as “in need of rescue” have an even more urgent need to find a forever family. This may be due to their age, a specific medical condition, or simply because they’re feeling unhappy at the shelter. Hazel was living as a stray on private property before she arrived at the shelter, where she finally found safety and care. She’s a fearful cat who will need time, patience, and gentleness to learn to trust and feel completely secure in her new environment. Hazel is looking for a calm home that respects her pace, where she can settle in peacefully and gradually build up her confidence. In terms of health, Hazel is HIV-positive. While this condition doesn’t prevent her from leading a happy life, she’ll need to live exclusively indoors to protect both her own health and that of other cats. Hazel gets along well with other cats, and having calm, respectful feline companions could even help her feel safer on a daily basis.
