Atualização 28.2.2026: Agora eles estão no abrigo. Lyra tem cerca de 1 ano. Eles estão seguros e sob nossos cuidados. Que animais lindos. Eles estão felizes por estarem juntos. Embora suas vidas tenham sido viradas de cabeça para baixo, estamos fazendo o nosso melhor para torná-las certas novamente. Até agora, tudo bem. Erato é a mãe (à esquerda), Lyra é a menininha (embora ela seja tão grande quanto sua mãe, à direita). Após algum tempo para se acalmar, os colocaremos para adoção. Por enquanto, estamos tratando eles com muita atenção e permitindo que tenham tempo para se acostumar ao nosso espaço. Sua história: se estiver no Velho Porto em Cânia, já viu Erato e sua filha Lyra. Elas vivem em um barco. Bem, elas viviam em um barco com seu dono. Seu dono ficou doente, foi hospitalizado e não pode mais cuidar delas. A polícia do porto pediu à prefeitura que as removessem do barco. A polícia do porto havia tentado entrar em contato comigo alguns dias atrás, mas eu não tive tempo de retornar. Hoje no veterinário, embora não esteja acostumada a fazer isso, minha veterinária pediu minha ajuda porque ela não conseguia ver esse animal "liberado" para a rua. Foi então que ela me levou até onde Erato estava em sua gaiola e eu a reconheci imediatamente! Ela seria liberada para a rua? Esse animal sempre teve um dono! Então eu concordei em levá-la e sua filha (que ainda está no barco enquanto escrevo) amanhã. Bem-vinda Erato, espero que o abrigo seja temporário. Com sua beleza, provavelmente será. Erato tem estimativa de quatro anos. Hoje ela foi esterilizada e clinicamente examinada pelo veterinário. Ela é negativa para leishmaniose e saudável.

Update 28.2.2026: Now they are at the shelter. Lyra is about 1 year old. They are safe and in our care. What beautiful animals. They are happy to be together. Although their lives were turned upside down, we are doing our best to turn it right side up again. So far, so good. Erato is the momma (left), Lyra is the little girl (although she is as big as her momma, right). After some time to decompress, we will put them up for adoption. For the meanwhile we are pampering them with loads of attention and allowing them time to get used to our space. Her story: If you’ve been down at the Old Harbor in Chania, you’ve seen Erato and her baby girl Lyra. They live on a boat. Well, they lived on a boat with their owner. Their owner has become ill, has been hospitalized and can no longer care for them. The harbor police asked from the municipality to have them removed from the boat. The harbor police had tried to contact me a few days ago but I had not had the time to get back to them. Today at the vet, although not accustomed to doing so, my vet asked me for help because she could not see this animal “released” on to the street. That was when she took me to where Erato was in her cage and I immediately recognized her! She was to be released on to the street?This animal had always had an owner! So I agreed to take her and her baby girl (who is on the boat as I write) tomorrow. Welcome Erato, I hope the shelter will be temporary. With your beauty, it probably will. Erato is estimated at four years old. Today she was neutered and clinically checked by the vet. She is leishmania negative and healthy.
