Essa corrente decidia onde ele dormia, onde ele ficava na chuva, quão longe poderia andar e quão pouco da vida ele era permitido a experimentar. Ele não sabia que era errado, era simplesmente a única vida que entendia. No início, ele puxava contra ela. Todo cão faria isso. Cães são feitos para explorar, se mover, fazer parte de uma família. Mas quando nada nunca muda, você deixa de puxar. A maior parte da vida de Noddy foi tranquila. Isolada. Ele nunca teve a chance de aprender o que significa fazer parte de um lar. Então um dia, tudo mudou. Uma senhora gentil o viu e a corrente foi removida. Pela primeira vez, Noddy sentiu grama sob suas patas sem restrições. Ele sentiu mãos gentis. Ouviu vozes amigáveis.
