Hazel a fost o fată terorizată care a fost salvată dintr-un adăpost din România. Fotografiile pe care le-am primit despre ea, era cu ochii mari și complet înghețată de frică. De când a venit la noi la Oakwood, este încă prea temer-oasă pentru a fi manevrată, însă am văzut destul de multă veselie de la ea, în special când are toți prietenii ei canini alături pentru încredere. Hazel este un mare iubitor de mâncare, însă este încă prea speriată de noi pentru a lua alimente din mâinile noastre, așa că construim încrederea fără a o presiona în acest sens și permitem ca ea să ia alimentele aruncate. Hazel a trăit întotdeauna în preajma altor câini și credem că este absolut necesar să trăiască cu un alt câine. Încrederea ei față de oameni este atât de scăzută încât va avea nevoie de un câine mai încrezător în viața ei care să-i arate calea. Ea se descurcă bine cu toți câinii cu care a fost amestecată până acum, dar masculii sunt cu siguranță alegerea ei preferată, îi place în mod deosebit tinerii nostri Walter, Lewis și Prince <3 Hazel nu a fost testată cu pisici. Din cauza naturii sale nervoase, în momentul de față nu există o metodă sigură de a o testa. Hazel a arătat niveluri moderate de energie de când a venit la noi, dar acestea ar putea crește pe măsură ce se adaptează unei case. Hazel nu a trăit niciodată într-o casă. Dacă ar trăi cu un alt câine, credem că ar fi ok să stea singură 4-5 ore, însă orice perioadă în care el ar fi singur trebuie construită treptat în timp. Hazel este încă prea speriată de noi pentru a încerca antrenamentul cu coardă. Hazel nu are nicio formă de antrenament de bază.

Hazel was a terrified girl that was rescued from a shelter in Romania. The photos that we received of her, she was wide eyed and absolutely frozen in fear. During her time with us, this girl has already come so far. She spent months being too scared to take treats from us and would always wait until we were no longer around to eat them, strokes were an absolute no go as you could tell by the fear in her eyes that she always thought something bad was going to happen. These days, Hazel will now happily take treats from our hands, although she can still flinch if we move slightly too quickly, and she loves nothing more than strokes and fusses. She stands and waits patiently in her kennel for her time to have some 1-1 with our volunteers. As she is starting to do so well with people, we have changed her rehoming criterea from needing to live with another dog for confidence to now believing that she would cope absolutely fine as an only dog in the home. Hazel has lots of dog friends at the rescue, male and female. She definately prefers the boys in her life but can be very selective of the females. Hazel has not been tested with cats. Due to her nervous nature, there is currently no safe way of testing her at the moment. Hazel has shown moderate energy levels since being with us but this could increase as she settles into a home Hazel has never lived in a home before. If she was to live with another dog, we believe she'd be ok to be left for 4-5 hours but any time where he will be by himself will need to be slowly built up over time We are just starting to desensitse Hazel to wearing a harness and lead, she's not yet started venturing out on walks due to her nervousness Hazel has no form of basic training
